Not wearing clothing that rubs your hair/not wearing your hair down
Keeping your hair short
Honestly, the tangles and knots didn't stop until I cut my hair off. The underlayer rubbed so much on my shirts (polo uniform) that I have to shave off a good amount of it, but it continued. Now that my hair is just at shoulder length it doesn't rub so I have no tangles at all.
