How Do I Get Protein Out of My Hair?

So I am super sensitive to protein I'm finding out. I don't know if I always was or just never knew it. Anyway, my hair has been so much less tangly and crazy with ZERO protein; however, yesterday I accidentally tried a new product and my hair got brittle and gross! Ugh - it had protein and I didn't realize. I co-washed today with conditioning balm and used KCCC but how do I get protein out of my hair?
3b/fine/normal porosity/normal elasticity

LOVES behentrimonium methosulfate
(don't ask me to pronounce that!)

Want to grow it long again!
And simply want to figure out this hair of mine!
I don't think you can really get it out but do a DT to sort of counteract it. That has been effective for me.
remember, with all advice or suggestions for your hair, YMMV!!
My hair:
2b wavy, medium texture, low porosity, med-high density. Protein finicky.
My routine:
Cleansing: DCNP, every 4-5 days (occasionally use CJ cleansers).
RO: CJSC, occasionally use JCDC
LI: KCKT or CJSL
Gel: KCCC, CJCIAB for 2nd day hair (sometimes third)

Heat is my friend: warm water rinses, steam caps, and diffuse dry. I love CLU cloths and my Denman.
Moisturize and wash your hair with a sulfate shampoo until your hair is normal again. This happens to me sometimes. That's how I fix it.
I used Prell - which is super clarifying for me, and then I did a DT - so that seems to have helped.
rbb likes this.

Sometimes our hair just needs a "restart".
