Pineapple causing breakage?

I've been doing a pineapple for about 5 months now and I'm starting to notice breakage on the underneath of my hair (the hair in direct contact with my pillow). I use a covered Scrunchy that is satin and a satin pillowcase. I don't pull my hair tight either. Has anyone else noticed breakage? I thought a pineapple was relatively safe.

I'm upset because the pineapple gave me the best 2nd day hair. Suggestions?

I tried 2 loose French braids last night but 2nd day results are terrible. I normally shower at night so this is a problem.

I tried pineapple and it didn't work for me. I noticed breakage, even with the satin scrunchie and pillowcase and leaving it loose. It stays ok when i'm sitting up but during the night it just falls out and if I put it any tighter its makes more breakage. Maybe i'm a thrasher lol! I find it very uncomfortable though. I tried sleeping with a satin cap instead and that's better but my waves and curls end up squished in the morning so I just stopped altogether. I sleep on a satin pillowcase if I go to bed with dry hair but if I go to bed with damp hair I sleep on a regular cotton pillow and it's dry and pretty by morning.
2(I have no idea what pattern), low porosity, mix of medium and coarse, dense

*Have just discovered the amazingness that is the "Spritz and Condish" routine*

Shampoo: SM Moisture Retention Shampoo
Co-wash: VO5 Vanilla Mint Tea Clarifying Conditioner
RO: GVP CB, Garnier Triple Nutrition
LI : Whatever conditioner I used + EVOO or Argon oil
Stylers: Organix Moroccan Curling Perfection Defining Creme, EcoStyler Gel (krystal)
I have a crazy idea to use a knee high and cut the tie out and put it on like a headband but pull all my hair up. I hope that makes sense. I wonder if the knee high will cause static or frizz

I've never had a problem using a scrunchie and a satin pillow case. You may want to try a satin sleep cap instead. Your curl results will be a little different than with a pineapple but it may help you.
3B, fine, normal to low porosity
Modified CG since June 2010
HGs: FSG, anything with glycerin, Tresemme Naturals conditioner, Curls Like Us cloths, satin pillowcases.
I can barely fit the cap to tie it on my head now, i guess i have too much hair. It says it fits most, do they make bigger ones? Like xxl?

So last night I tried just using a satin cap and pillow case. My curls were smashed in that cap. I then went and grabbed a claw clip and put my hair into a pineapple and covered with the satin cap. I got great results but idk if the claw clip will stop the breakage.
