Default Ionic/Tourmaline Dryers/Straighteners

I have a Vidal Sasson Ionic Diffuser Dryer. I've heard so much about how miraculaous ionic and tourmaline dryers/straighteners are. Well I have not found the Ionic diffuser dryer to work any differently than a regular diffuser. I have not seen a reduction of frizz. So my question is: From your experience do you think Ionic and Tourmaline products are marketing gimmicks or have you found them to be better? I'm really frustrated with my hair right now. I actually straightened Sunday for the first time in years.

I didn't vote because my experience is kind of in the middle. I have the same dryer and I don't think it's a miracle, but I do think I get less frizz than with my old dryer.
