Contrary to what most people think, Curl Keeper does wonders! My hair loves it in dry weather, everything else makes my hair wilt.

Yeah I need something light, I don't even condition my hair because conditioner weighs it down and makes it limp.

You don't list your hair properties or what products you are currently using. It really helps people give you advice if you know you're properties. They are the best way to choose ingredients/products. Here's a link to help you Live Curly Live Free - Curly Hair Basics It's all about getting the protein/moisture balance correct.
My fine/low porosity hair loves protein. For me, it tightens curl, reduces frizz and adds volume. I do at least one PT a week and use a lot of products with protein.
If your hair droops an hour after it's dry, you probably need something for hold. My hair doesn't like the chemicals in gels, so I always finish with a jelly product (gelatinous consistency, not chemicals.)

I cannot say this enough: go to youtube and search for the video of Curly Hair Solutions' roller jaw clips. Then buy them. They really work wonders for my hair. I put them in, and I dont touch them till my hair is dry (or I get frizz). They provide great curl formation and volume, once you get t he hang of it, which is not difficult.

Totally agree and they're worth every penny. Much better than any other clipping method I've tried.

I struggled with those stupid metal clips that the Deva method uses, and I got so frustrated! they didnt stay in, they ripped out my hair, I got frizz; they tell us to coat them with gel, tried that, even bigger mess. The RJ clips are so gentle on my hair and scalp, and it is a basically fool proof method. I know some gals say that their hair does not "hold" the clips, but I think it takes a little practice, and I am not even sure it matters if the clips slip a little, they do in my hair also. Still works.

Ok I have fine/medium hair that's thick with normal porosity, type 3A. I use Herbal Essence Body Envy Shampoo or Herbal Essence Honey I'm
Strong. No conditioner because that makes it flat. I use curl scrunching gel and diffuse my hair dry. It looks great in the summer but as soon as the humidity leaves the air, so does my volume!

Sounds to me like your hair craves moisture! It's getting it from the air in the summer. You should really try conditioning. Maybe start with a lighter conditioner like Suave Naturals. If you're not CG, I used Redken Fresh Curls prior to CG, and it really turned my curls around. Before that, I had also tried to go without conditioner, because I was having these weird oily spots in my hair. I thought that would help, but it didn't.
+1 on what kathy said about protein and a product with hold.

have you tried a mousse instead of a gel, or a mousse/gel combo?

If the humidity is helping your curls a spritz that has a humectant ought to be a winter product.

Myrna- I used to use Mousse but it was making my hair hard and it always looked wet which I don't like at all, never mixed the 2 though

When I had trouble with volume, I found that adding some more layers to the crown di wonders! That, along with my diffusing method!
What's your diffusing routine?

I do have layers which does help and I diffuse. I have a diffuser attached to my hair dryer, flip my head and dry/diffuse that way.

Italiandiva, I personally like a little of crunch, and I need it, or my curls are too soft, and I too get frizz. I have better results with both mousse and gel, and I loosen them a little (just a little) by placing my hands on my scalp and shaking my curls just a little.
