Does anyone react to panthenol coconut oil or cocoa butter?

If so, what are your symptoms?

redcelticcurls 10-20-2012 10:30 AM

I've not tried cocoa butter.

Panthenol, although a pro-vitamin and not a protein, feels like a protein reaction on my hair. Panthenol is supposed to thicken the individual hair strand. That's the last thing I need.

Interesting b/c I was suspecting panthenol but wasn't sure. Good to know!

Does it make your hair frizz? Feel Dry? Get tangled?

redcelticcurls 10-20-2012 12:31 PM

It feels like a protein overdose.

see that's weird. i've been suspecting panthenol of making my hair droop.

My curls loves panthenol & coconut oil. Eats it right up! Lol Cocoa butter just sits on top of my hair & it never gets absorbed.

I can't seem to find anything without protein and without panthenol and coconut that's natural (not CVS store bought crap).

:(

UGH!

My hair def. reacts to ALL proteins and gets brittle and tangled.

The coconut and panthenol are different - they seem fine the first day then slowly by later in the day, my hair starts to get dried out and by next day it just feels dry. :(

coconut oil sits on top of my hair and it doesnt absorb so it causes my hair to dry. Its because i have low porosity hair. Pathenol hasnt reacted negatively to my hair. Cocoa butter hasnt either but butters usually sit on top of my hair so im still experimenting with it.

Have you considered the brittle and dryness may be from the horsetail, not the panthenol? :dontknow: Here's an article about horsetail and also a thread about it. I can't use a lot of the more 'natural' products because they seem to have more 'extracts' which seem to contain hidden proteins (but don't quote me on that). LOL

My hair definitely reacts badly to horsetail and possibly nettle. A lot of CJ products have them and after more than one or two uses, my hair gets drier and frizzier. However, I don't have problems with the curl rehab used as a RO or LI, but it could be because I don't use it repeatedly every day so it might just be the tad bit of protein my hair needs.

I don't know, I just take stabs in the dark - haha! But that's GOOD TO KNOW! Could very well be true for me. Thank you thank you! I will look out for this!
