Come in if you use Curl Keeper

Does Curl Keeper typically work in the winter?
I think I am the only one that Curl Keeper didn't work that great for? Maybe I am not using it correctly?

I used to use Biosilk serum prior to going CG and I would put it on underneath everything else, under my gel. I wasn't using a leave-in at the time, so when I tried CK I put it over my leave in and under my gel.

I didn't really notice anything good or bad with it. I have also tried it as a finisher on mostly dry hair and to SOTC.

How much do you use? I only used about a nickel sized amount. My hair is thin and fine, prone to frizz and flyaway so I can't imagine using CK alone without something with more hold.

I need to give it another go.

Fine texture, fine density, normal to high porosity(?)

Modified CG since April 2012

Wash: DevaCurl Low Poo or SM Coconut & Hibiscus Curl and Shine Shampoo
COwash/RO: CJ Curl Assurance Smoothing, CJ Daily Fix Cleansing Condish, Shea Moisture Restorative
LI: KCKT
Style: KCCC, CJ Pattern Pusha, DevaCare Arc AnGEL, Loreal EverStyle Styling Spray
Because its so watery, you'd definitely need to use more than a nickel size. My hair is really long so I need about half a palm full. I don't like it much because I LOVE big hair and using CK takes away all my frizz so I don't get big hair :/
Does anyone use personal lubricant for the CK? Watched a video on YouTube of waterlilly716 doing a review and was curious. I got a sample of CK a couple days ago and love it but not the price

Gotta jump on the CK bandwagon. I've been using it for about a week and am amazed and what it does for my hair. Removes the frizz, gives me some definition, and best of all I can run my fingers through my dry curls and not create more volume. It doesn't build up in my hair so I haven't gotten that dreaded matted up curl look. I also can't get over how I can reactivate it by simply spraying in water. I always had to reapply product in the past to reactivate curl definition. I hope they never change the formula on this.

Finer, mixed with coarser strands, low-porosity, wavy curly whirly hair...3A, 2C hair. Medium thickness, medium elasticity.
S-shaped hair with corkscrew ends. My hair is even more confused than me ;p
My hair officially hates protein Once a month is enough!
Currently a fan of TiGi products, (rock on, TiGi Curlesque styling creme!) but that will soon change - I am a self-avowed product junkie! Yay!
BIG fan of supersoaker method - thanks Rudeechick!
I did want to throw in their I tried using the Curl Keeper Skip Curl Technique and it was an epic FAIL for me! LOL! It just seemed to pull the curl out of my hair. Think I have too loose of a curl pattern for it. I plan on going back to scrunching the product in to encourage curl formation and then plop. I'm very intrigued about using KY instead of CK. I'm about 1/2 way through my bottle already and only had it for a couple of weeks now.
I tried it and I totally, totally LOVE it. OMG, I love it more than Deva Foam, Kinky Curly, and the six hundred other products in my stash (groan). I got this as a sample and I'll have to buy it now.

The thing is, I followed this great video on Youtube by Veronica Meza which is somewhere on nc.com. I have to find that and thank whoever posted it. So my success is mostly the CK, but the video (she uses CK) was also helpful.

There are a lot of videos of curlies using CK with AG: Recoil Curl Activator. If CK on its own or water activated doesn't give me that elusive 2nd day hair, I'll try that combo. YEA to this thread.!!

I've been using CK for about 4 yrs now. It keeps my hair frizz free in any weather. We don't get winter here in SE Florida so I don't know what would happen in freezing COLD weather.

It's the BEST! Actually afraid not to use it.

I get 3 days of pretty good hair from using:

1. Just about any leave in KBB nectar (favorite) CJ 2nd.
2. CK a good amt
3. CIAB
4. BRHG

At night pinapple in AM spray with water with a little KBB nectar in it.

Good to go! So easy!

NEW PICS
I'm revitalizing this thread, because my CurlKeeper just arrived in the mail and I can't figure out how I should use it tomorrow for the first time! Right now I flip my hair over in the shower, scrunch in my gel, and use a flour sack towel to scrunch out the rest of the water. Then I put in some clips, diffuse, and shake my head around to loosen things up. All the CK videos show them combing in the product and then not touching it for a while, which makes me a bit nervous (my hair is super fine, so without the head upside down and then diffusing, it is flat and stringy!) But then again, if that's really the best way to use the product, I can give it a try! I'd love to hear how other people use it, though
Curl Keeper is my HG product! I love how it combats frizz, adds definition to my curls and doesn't weigh down my hair at all!

Sometimes when I want a bit of extra hold I scrunch in the Curly Solutions gel on top of it, which gives it a bit of extra oomph.

I bought the giant bottle which I think is the best deal, and for me lasts FOREVER because I only need to style once a week out of the shower with KC and then refresh every other day with a bit of water and leave-in.

How many pumps of KC do most people use? I'd say it's about six to ten pumps for me.

I love Curl Keeper. I use it as a layering product under gel, or as a soft hold product over LI alone.

Thank you so much. One more question, if you dont mind. When i googled aveyou.com, an option came up in the search for aveyou @amazon. I suppose aveyou.com would be better but I have an amazon prime account. After paying for prime tho i began to read about amazon shipping counterfeit products.. So, has anyone safely used aveyou @ amazon to order curly hair products? TIA
I haven't. Aveyou generally has coupon codes floating around for 10-20% off and offer $1 shipping on orders over $50. Their shipping is also generally very expedient. I've had my order within 3-4 days.

I'm in the US also, and I usually order Curl Keeper directly from Curly Hair Solutions. Their service is super fast, and even though it has to come through customs, it arrives pretty quickly. I'm in New York State, so the trip from Toronto is much shorter than the trip from CurlMart in Texas. I've also ordered it directly from Amazon (when it's sold by them) when I was away from home unexpectedly long, and needed to resupply quickly.
Peace,
Morgan
