Pretty Loo have you tried using a hairband, a scarf wrapped round it, or some hair combs or barrettes? You can also use hair clips while your hair is drying - slide them into the parts of your hair by your face, right at the roots, and let it dry that way. It does help pull the hair away. Or you can gel your hair, then pull that hair by your ears over your fingers to curl it back, and blowdry just that one spot while your fingers are holding/curling it back...
Your hair is lovely, it will be easier to manage when it gets longer really! I have been there, I know how frustrating it can be. Good luck, hope that advice helps!
ETA: Try checking out some curly girl youtube videos on hair styles - you can start with waterlily716, she has loads, and from there link on to other curly girl hair style vidoes...

My hair officially hates protein Once a month is enough!
Currently a fan of TiGi products, (rock on, TiGi Curlesque styling creme!) but that will soon change - I am a self-avowed product junkie! Yay!
BIG fan of supersoaker method - thanks Rudeechick!
