Default I need a light-ish hold gel or jelly

Something that doesn't get too crunchy! I'm thinking:

Donna Marie miracurl
Batia and Aleeza
Jessicurl rockin ringlets

I'm a fine, but dense type 2b/3a

I tried a sample of the miracurl - it actually left my hair pretty crunchy, but I was able to SOTC. I also have a sample of the rockin ringlets; I don't really remember if I liked it well or not, but I don't think it was bad. I'm not really sure I would consider it a gel or jelly - the consistency is pretty runny - but it does have some curl enhancement and light hold. You might try ordering some samples of different jelly products from Kathymack - that way you can try a few before you commit to buying the full size.

My favorite brands are Kinky Curly, As I am, Curly Kinks, Curl Junkie, and Darcy's Botanicals. Also love sealing with oils (loving argan oil right now) and styling with jelly products (KCCC is my current favorite). Mostly trying to keep it simple!

Current Routine BAQ henna 1/month; Leave-in OH Hair Dew; Cleansing Conditioner Giovanni TTTT. Just three!
Old Stand-bys extra-virgin coconut oil; Protein AO GPB; Moisture AO HR; Style AOMMJ. Kept for troubleshooting.
Waiting to try extra-wide curlformers.
Propylene Glycol Sensitive - Itchy scalp? Facial Irritation? This might be why!

Currently a fan of TiGi products, (rock on, TiGi Curlesque styling creme!) but that will soon change - I am a self-avowed product junkie! Yay!
BIG fan of supersoaker method - thanks Rudeechick!
