Winter Dryness / Surgery = HAIR S.O.S

I have a troubling dilemma...

I have 3c/4a color treated hair. The crown of my hair is the coarser 4a section.. And is always the driest. I recently (May of this year) stopped using shampoo and stick only to co washing a couple of times a week, which left my hair moisturized and healthy (retaining length). Now I'm back at school, and its getter colder and my hair is a dry, birds nest, WRECK!!

I NEED HELP DESPERATELY!

I have be avidly doing the CG method with so much successful retention. But now that its winter what do I switch up? Should I just drop the CG method until summer? What products can I use now? I'd been using Shea Moisture's Coconut & Hibiscus but its almost as if I need something heavier.

I'm trying to maintain healthy hair this winter (even as I work out) and continue on my road to FULL BSL.

P.S. My hair is a inch and a half away from SL unstretched... And about an inch away from APL stretched.

I wonder if a little oil would help. Maybe put some very light oil on the dry parts of your hair before you sleep so that it absorbs. I have trouble with dry hair in winter also, and I often do roller sets because the curls are hopeless. Good luck and if you find a solution, please post.
2/c and some 3A. Modified CG.
Protein sensitive
Highly porous. Color over grey.
Best 1st day method: Super Soaker
Conditioners: Curl Junkie Beauticurls Strengthening Conditioner,
Deep condish: Curl Junkie Curl Rehab
Stylers: Mix Curls in a Bottle into everything for shine. Terrible pj
Sometimes try roller sets - classic glamor but I prefer my curls.
Every day is a gift
Any recommendations as far as oils? Because castor oil just makes my hair sticky but I heard its good for 3c/4a hair...

you could try to use a thicker conditioner? Like jessicurl too shea? You could also try to use more conditioner, and/or not rinsing all your conditioner out of your hair. Some conditioners I don't like to leave it in, so then I rinse out most of it and use a leave-in conditioner when I step out the shower (do this before you put gel in your hair).

I also add sometimes a little olive oil to my conditioner, and in the dry parts you can add some extra leave-in conditioner and/ore a little oil after you stepp out of the shower? Like olive oil, or jessicurl oil blend?

Then, you could also try to do some deep treatments. You can do this by bying a 'deep treatment' conditioner, like Curl Junkie curl rehab, or jessicurl deep treatment. You can add some extra oil and/or honey for your deep treatment (some people make a deep treatment with only adding honey and oil to their 'normal' rinse out conditioner). Leave it in for as long as possible (like, at least for 30 minutes or so). Some people say it works even better when you use some heat (like with a diffuser) when your deep treatment conditioner is on your head.

Finally, you can try to sleep on a satin pillow case. This can sometimes help to have more hydrated hair and less split ends. Good luck!

Oh, two more things: a deep conditioning treatment is mostly done about once a week (but you can do it more or less often ofcourse). And if your hair is very dry, you can also try if co-washing less often is helpfull for you.
