2nd Day Hair - Prevent Curls from Separating

I couldn't find my issue specifically when I searched, so hopefully you guys can help.

Since I started CG my curls tend to separate in my sleep, so my second day hair looks really stringy and greasy, but not frizzy. It's just really not a good look. I didn't have this problem before I started CG.

Also, my hair throughout day 1 looks just fine, this only happens after I sleep.

Will sleeping with a silk cap on help prevent my curls from separating?
