My hair is insane - super sensitive, knotty, help!

All right, so I did crazy things with my hair today - I did a Prell wash b/c I felt like it and then decided I should add back moisture, but instead did egg/mayo/oo as a treatment - no heat. Hair came out "stiff" after rinsing - not dry or tangly, just "stiff" and so I put back some GVP CB - and was going to do Rehab, but realized Rehab has aloe (again, I don't love it) - so left in GVP CB for a good long time with heat and then without and then RO with some ACV

Don't know why I did all that!

But then I just put in a bunch of coconut curlada.

All right, well whatever the heck experiment that was produced some good results! I did really great with the coconut curlada again today - it's like a gel and leave in all in one. Can't believe how great it is on my hair - no frizz, no pixie knots, no dryness or tangles, and TONS of shine and definied curls. I may have used a little too much today but one happy head of hair!

Whoever recommended the As I am and Coconut Curlada (someone on here uses them both) thank you!!!

Well, I had two good days in a row using Coconut Curlada - third time I used it not much changed except I used a little less and NOT GOOD - single strand knots, some frizz and dryness - this has happened with other products, and I'm not sure what it means. Great first time - great second time - third/fourth time downhill.

WHY? WHY WHY???

Isn't Prell shampoo pretty drying?

JL, the weird thing is that I had great hair after the prell wash - and PT/DT with coconut curlada.

But two days later when I just did the coconut curlada after cowashing and conditioning with conditioning balm, it didn't go so well....

So what do you guys recommend for a clarifying wash - to get rid of hard water build up etc? I don't love the baking soda deal. And somene in the high up ranks of curls (I won't mention names) said to use prell so I did - I think she even said it's better than doing bs/acv

Anyone?

Gel gel gel - I don't know. Maybe my head just doesn't like the stuff.

I tried Aussie Instant freeze over GVP conditioning balm last night and it's good - but the back of my hair - which is a different/coarser/dryer texture got dry ssk's

All these gels - LA looks, Aussie, HE all seem to have just chemicals. Are they drying for people who use them? I may have to dry something other than a gel -

All I know is that when my hair was behaving like yours is, the only thing that fixed it was stopping the chemical coloring. Like your hair, my hair would *love* a product for about 3 days, and then it would almost never love it again. I could never get any long-term consistency. My favorite gel right now is actually Bioterra Styling Gel from Sally's. I've been using it at least 3 times a week for the last 7 or 8 months (ever since I stopped chemically coloring), and it performs the same every time I use it. That never happened before --in fact, I had put it away because it was another one of those 2-hit wonders for me.

The other positive change for me is that I'm not going through any of those "the season changed hair is freaking out" periods. It used to be that any time the season changed, my hair would completely fall apart. Nothing worked and I would go around for weeks with my hair up because it was awful.

Again, I'm not sure if that's your problem or not. I'm just throwing it out there because what you're describing sounds a lot like what I went through.

JL,

Thanks. I will consider this though I'm so addicted to color and Mary Pat said she colors and the protein penetrates the shaft and strengthens her hair. There are some natural colors I'm looking into: https://www.ecocolors.net/index.cfm?...omparisonChart

And The Gold Standard in Haircolor. Try it today.

But I have to look into ingredients.

I was going to try Matrix SoColor in the meantime. I'm just so not into my grays -

But I want what you're saying to be the solution to my hair stuff and yet, I don't know. Whenever I've colored in the past, I've had great results with my hair looking amazing for a few weeks (before it fades) and feeling strong and shiny. So it's hard for my brain to make that connection.

Man, this crazy hair of mine! So just for kicks, I used Mircurls curling gelly - top ingredients are aloe and glycerin - still low dews here, and I got GREAT hair and great second-day hair?

So now I'm NOT sensitive to glycerin and aloe??

Ugh.

Okay, so I went to my chiropractor today and this may answer it - but he thinks my thyroid is involved at this point (I've been having other health issues related to stress) so - there you have it. Maybe that's "all" it is - my hair isn't really falling out much at this point, it's just that the texture of it feels spiderwebby (almost) nowadays and it doesn't even feel like hair - it's always in a pony tail.

and then today I have normal hair - as i am + komaza coconut pudding.

So odd.

I do think I'm sensitive to wheat, hydrolized proteins (not sure about all proteins), glycerin (not sure about all the time but def. in low dews), horestail and nettle

Not sure about panthenol

I think I'm okay with coconut and aloe.
