Hi guys,
So about 7 weeks ago, I got my hair cut and highlighted. I decided to try a new salon that a girlfriend of mine began working at once she graduated from cosmetology school. So ever since I got the cut and highlights, my natural curl is GONE!! I've tried every product that has ever worked on my hair and the same result every time, It looks stringy and doesn't even curl. I am so upset!! I've tried at home deep conditioning treatments and even a protein treatments. I have to blow out my hair every day and then I can use a curling iron to curl it. The best thing I loved about my hair was the shower and go aspect.
Has this ever happened to anyone before? Does anyone know what I can do? The worst part is I am due for another cut and my highlights have grown a little out, and I would love another salon day but I think my hair is too damaged. What do I do?!? Can someone help me?

---Needless to say I wont be returning to that salon. I get my hair colored and highlighted often. I am a natural blonde with type 3B fine hair. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

My advice is lay off the heat because whatever damage you have will be made worse.

Sounds like whatever products she used in your hair may have been too harsh and if she used any heat then that probably made it worse.

Something similar did happen to me a while back; fortunately it didn’t happen all over my head just a few end pieces at the very front of my hair lost their curl. For me it was because the front pieces of hair was the hair I flat ironed the most so the repeated heat caused damage. When your hair isn’tholding a curl anymore it usually means it is damaged.

For me the only thing I could do to get those sections to curl again was to grow out my hair and my hair was already only a few inches above my waist. I had to keep trimming the damaged ends as my hair grew. It looked a bit weird at first because all over my head my hair was in ringlet curls and then a few pieces at the bottom were straight, luckily for me it wasn’t much hair so I could hide those strands among my other hair while it grew out.

Sometimes you can’t undo the damage and you just have to grow it out to get rid of it.

That happened to me! But not so suddenly. What helped me was to STOP straightening it, and START doing daily ACV rinses, conditioning it, and just giving it time without heat and products to let it recover and come back! Good luck

• Apple Cider Vinegar rinses weekly
• shampoos occasionally that do not contain sulfates
• conditioners without silicones or proteins (or so I think- Keratin seems to do ok)
• Flour sack towel
