"Your hair looks better straight than curly"

For me that's not a compliment, I take it as "your curly hair is ugly". Maybe I'm being too sensitive lol. Am I the only one?

3B/3C Recovering from heat damaged :/... almost like transitioning because most of my hair is straight it won't curl, thsi is due to sooo many years of using heat without stoping.

Braid out and twist out are my staple styles right now! Not using heat since December 2011. Still experimenting with products!

No, you are not being sensitive. People (typically people with naturally straight hair) don't understand how difficult it is for curlies to straighten (and even brush) our hair. Believe me, if they knew what we had to go through just to get our hair looking like theirs, they would shut up about it.

Judging from your profile picture, you have gorgeous hair! Do you know how many people (including me) would pay for your hair? It's beautiful! If you embrace your curls and who you are, others eventually will, too. And if they don't, then you can always come on here and rant about (It's what I do. )

live, laugh, love and be joyfully curly,

Many curlies hear that when they straighten their hair...I think it is only because people enjoy seeing something different, it is probably nothing to do with you personally Or they recognised the effort you went through to straighten it, and are sincerely trying to compliment you...You have lovely curls, don't worry! Enjoy your curls, and don't worry about the opinions of others. It's your hair, you can do whatever you want with it
Finer, mixed with coarser strands, low-porosity, wavy curly whirly hair...3A, 2C hair. Medium thickness, medium elasticity.
S-shaped hair with corkscrew ends. My hair is even more confused than me ;p
My hair officially hates protein Once a month is enough!
Currently a fan of TiGi products, (rock on, TiGi Curlesque styling creme!) but that will soon change - I am a self-avowed product junkie! Yay!
BIG fan of supersoaker method - thanks Rudeechick!
I used to hear this a lot. Part of reason I stopped straightening it once in a while is bc I'd feel bad about my curls after. I love my curls and straightening takes so much work!!!

You are def not the only one! Trust me. Its jealousy! This happens to tons of curlies. My mom just told me one of her co-workers said she hated her hair!

Don't sweat it - your curls are gorgeous.

I used to work with a guy who would tell me my hair looked better straight, but that's his opinion & I'm fine with that. Funny thing is that when I wear my hair in its naturally curly state, I'll get random compliments from absolute strangers. That has NEVER happened when I've worn my hair straight, so I agree that I think it's probably because people just like something different . . . it's not an insult or slight against your ringlets.
