Question!
Hi everyone, I have a question.
I'm quite new to the CG method so I wanna ask, do these ingredient lists have any proteins among them? Just wanted to know. Thanks a lot in advance! Product 1: aqua/water, cetearyl alcohol, behentrimonium chloride, starch acete, hydroxyethylcellulose, chlorhexidine digluconate, soluble collagen, limonene, linalool, isopropyl alcohol, cetyl esters, hexyl cinnamal, parfum/fragrance Product 2: aqua/water, cetearyl alcohol, elaeis guineensis oil / palm oil, behentrimonium chloride, stearamidopropyl dimethylamine, PEG/PPG/polybutylene glycol-8/5/3 glycerin, chlorhexidine, digluconate, soluble collagen, limonene, linalool, benzyl salicylate, isoprpyl alcohol, methylparaben, citric acid, hexyl cinnamal, glycerin, parfum/fragrance |
I believe the collagen is a protein. And the paraben in product 2 means it is not CG friendly.

Ah thanks, didn't know collagen was a protein. And I thought parabens weren't that bad?
Any other proteins? I vaguely heard starch acete and hydroxyethylcellulose are proteins as well |

Good list of proteins: http://www.curlynikki.com/2009/01/pr...oh-my.html?m=1
Some other ingredients behave like proteins or react with the protein in our hair so some watch for them, too: AVG and coconut, for example. I just double checked: CG book states to avoid parabens in gels but doesn't mention them as far as conditioner, aside from saying they are a preservative and controversial as some deem them as unsafe. So, I guess it depends on the product it's in as far as 'official' CG. My apologies for that questionable information - I should have looked first. |
