Oh your hair is much longer than mine! The longest layer of mine is finally just reaching my shoulder when unstretched and only 3cm below stretched.
Unfortunately, I can't really tell you how much product is appropriate for you to use. Have you seen the thread with techniques (Ice Queen Method, etc.)? Sometimes the results you want are more about technique than amount of product.
One of the reasons I fell in love with the AO Mandarin Magic Jelly is that it never made my hair crunchy.

Current Routine BAQ henna 1/month; Leave-in OH Hair Dew; Cleansing Conditioner Giovanni TTTT. – Just three!
Old Stand-bys extra-virgin coconut oil; Protein AO GPB; Moisture AO HR; Style AOMMJ. – Kept for troubleshooting.
Waiting to try extra-wide curlformers. Propylene Glycol Sensitive - Itchy scalp? Facial Irritation? This might be why!

I used to be a huge PJ back when I first started learning out how to deal with my curls, but I think I slowed down on that especially lately. I just seem to have less cash around to spend on new products, and honestly I have plenty of HGs. So anyways:
Suave naturals coconut cowash (lasts a month) - $2
GVP matrix biolage conditioning balm (lasts 2 months) - $6 on sale
kinky curly knot today (lasts 4 months) - $12
curl keeper (lasts 4 months) - $24 (with shipping)
Aussie instant freeze gel (lasts 2 months) - $7
Devacut every 6 months - $60
I think that comes to about $30 per month. That's just my basic regimen without DTs or other treatments added in. I don't think curly hair is very expensive if you stick to a bare bones regimen; and you can definitely do all drugstore. I think straightening treatments or expensive flat irons can come out to around the same amount of money, even if you're using less products. But it's far less time to go curly.

Eco styler gel - $4
shea moisture yucca and baobab conditioner $10
Shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie $10
Shea moisture yucca and baobab shampoo$10
tresemme naturals conditioner $4
then I buy oils every now and then, my hair isn't a big oil fanatic sooo whenever I do buy an oil it lasts some months.
I buy ecostyler like every 2 months, depends on how I wear my hair.
The shea moisture products last me 2-4 months with the shampoo lasting longer since I rarely shampoo my hair.
The tresemme lasts me like 2 months so yea my hair is pretty cheap since I don't have to buy for it on a monthly basis.

Okay, so now i won't feel bad about spending about $7 on a gel! However, i don't know how long this should last, hopefully maybe 2 months for a 200ml bottle right? Less, more, my hair's about 15cm below my shoulders.

Well with my current drugstore routine it's about $20-35 a month. I use Vo5 to co-wash, Tresseme naturals or GVPCB as a rinse out, KCNT as a leave-in, sometimes KCCC or another jelly, and AIF.
I'm still experimenting, but it usually averages out the same.
