Protein treatments?

What is the purpose? What would be the best kind for my hair: 2c/3a, on the thinner side, it's long and gets very limp..thank you!

That thread has lots of helpful info. You should always follow your PT with a DT.

I really like Curl Junkie Repair Me! It is a little on the expensive side though. Cheaper options are Nexxus Emergencee, Ion Effective Care and Joico K-Pak.

If you want to make your own, here is a link that many curlies and wavies love. I have not made it myself because I prefer store bought ones!

AsianRunner answered correctly! And I just want to add that the purpose of a protein treatment is to bind to the hair, which makes it stronger, and in some cases, curlier. :)
