Default Question about DT or pre oiling!

I am one of the many that don't like to have to shampoo/low poo whatever, then DT for an hour and get back in the shower. With the cold water and having to homeschool with children, I like it even less. So two questions:
1) if you oil to prepoo every day or every other day, would that count as a good DT and then I could skip DT altogether??
2) If I DT daily for ten minutes after I shampoo, ( I poo daily for my scalp's health) would that count as a 1 hour weekly DT??
3) If I DT on dry (a little bit of product, not too dirty of hair the hour before washing) would that count as a DT?
Hoping for some help, in making a decision that will benefit my hair and work in my schedule!
Thanks!

1) if you oil to prepoo every day or every other day, would that count as a good DT and then I could skip DT altogether?? Personally, depending on the quality of the oil and how often/long you do it, yes, it can! My hair was at it's best when I was deep oiling with Tropical Traditions coconut oil for hair almost daily. Hmmm.....maybe I should do that again.
2) If I DT daily for ten minutes after I shampoo, ( I poo daily for my scalp's health) would that count as a 1 hour weekly DT?? Sure you can break it up like that. However works for you.
3) If I DT on dry (a little bit of product, not too dirty of hair the hour before washing) would that count as a DT? Yep I do that occasionally too!

Btw, we homeschool as well. I hear you on the time limits!!! OY.....

I don't really consider oil to be a moisturizer - only a sealant. So to me, this would not count as a DT. Some people swear by it though, and there are some oils that are supposed to absorb into hari (coconut, olive, one more I forgot which)

2) If I DT daily for ten minutes after I shampoo, ( I poo daily for my scalp's health) would that count as a 1 hour weekly DT??

If you are doing it with steam or a shower cap, it may work. As long as there is enough time for a lot of the DT to absorb, you're good.....If you rinse out the treatment when most of it is still sitting ON your hair, I would consider that a waste. I find I need at least 20 minutes but you may need less

3) If I DT on dry (a little bit of product, not too dirty of hair the hour before washing) would that count as a DT?

Yes, this is what I do. IMO as long as the DT absorbs into your hair, you have done a DT properly. For me even though my hair isn't fresh-washed, I dampen it with a spray bottle, put on my DT, a processing cap, go about my business for half an hour, when I take off the cap almost all of the treatment is gone into my hair. Then I shower as usual. I do this like twice a week, once with my Nice DT (curl junkie rehab) and once with my cheapie DT (crece pelo).

Hoping for some help, in making a decision that will benefit my hair and work in my schedule!
Thanks!

triple-spiral Thanks that was helpful Just one question, and yes I know many swear by oiling before a poo. Since I shampoo every day, is it going to go against my Dt, if I do like you suggested, spritz hair, put DT on for an hour or so, and then shampoo??? Is that going to take away all effects of a DT, or do you just rinse it out and no rinse out that day, no poo, no nothing more than rinse it out??? Thanks

I don't think it will take out the effects of the DT, but then I never pre-poo. If I am not doing a DT I will just jump in the shower and shampoo or co-wash, so adding the DT for me can only help. Maybe after the DT but before the shampoo, you can add some oil to your hair?

I still see a clear difference when I DT and shampoo, verses when I don't dot the DT so it doesn't completely erase the effect.....hopefully some who knows more about pre-pooing can add their input!
