Default What age should a baby be to take care of his/hers curls?

I'm wondering because my eight month old nephews's hair is usually wavy but today after my mom have him a bath his hair was in curls.

Babies frequently have curly hair. Unfortunately much of the hair falls out, or when its cut, the curls are cut off. Sad, I know.

One of my little girls had curls. But at some point she just lost them. She has very thick, only slightly wavy hair now.
