Thumbs down Really upset with my hair!!

My hair was doing GREAT. It was super long and wasn't very frizzy unless I wore it in a pony tail the day before.

I recently got my hair cut. I told her an inch and she cut off about 2.5. She normally never cuts that much off.
Ever since then, pony tails have been horrendous, frizz has been out of control, and my "bang" area isn't even curly-it's waves.

My question is why isn't my hair curling at the root and what are some alternatives to ponytails. I play tennis so no matter what, I need something to secure my hair back.

Any help would be great!!

edit: its also extremely knotted from the nape of my neck all the way to the surface of the hair in that area. it looks disgusting

Can you tell us more about your hair type and hair properties (porosity, texture, etc)? (Check this website if you're not sure: Live Curly Live Free - Curly Hair Basics)

Are you CG? Your stylist may have use products on your hair that have silicone or have otherwise left build-up on your hair.
|| 3b; normal porosity; fine/normal texture || CG since Feb 2010 ||

Current Routine BAQ henna 1/month; Leave-in OH Hair Dew; Cleansing Conditioner Giovanni TTTT. Just three!
Old Stand-bys extra-virgin coconut oil; Protein AO GPB; Moisture AO HR; Style AOMMJ. Kept for troubleshooting.
Waiting to try extra-wide curlformers.
Propylene Glycol Sensitive - Itchy scalp? Facial Irritation? This might be why!

Yep, I was going to suggest clarifying, too!

If that's not the problem, it could be the length, or it could be the cut itself. Both of those things will take time to notice a difference and to know if those are the cause.

Also, my hair usually takes a couple wettings and re-stylings before it adjusts to just about any cut. So maybe after about a week it will settle into it.

But start with the clarifying wash and maybe a DT after!

According to those self tests I have high porosity and depending on the area of my head..fine to coarse texture
I also think I'm a 3b

It's been about 2 weeks since my cut. I'm the same way- I have to give my hair a few washes before it looks good again bc she uses a fine tooth comb which is deadly on my hair.
The area I live in doesn't have any good curly hairstylists and its so disappointing!

I'm not really CG. I shampoo with head and shoulders about twice a week and condition the heck out of my hair otherwise.
I don't really remember the "qualifications" for CG. Lol
