Default I just need to start over! Advice?

So I haven’t really been following the CG method to a tee… I use naked kids shampoo because it has no sulphates or silicones (i’m not sure about the other ingredients though- I believe it to be okay). I have the boots intensive hair mask (coconut one) that I use as my conditioner. I try to only wash my hair twice a week, sometimes I have to do three. That said, it doesn’t always look ‘great’.

I’m thinking that I maybe have a build up of product in my hair and so the shampoo/conditioners that I use aren’t working well enough. I’m currently at University, and so when I go home this weekend I plan to use a sulphate shampoo and start again.

When my hair is washed, I usually use a microfibre towel to scrunch it a little dry, but then I put my hair in a bun on my head. I think I should try plopping! I occasionally pineapple at night, but I don’t know how much that works for me to be honest xD I occasionally comb my hair in the shower when I have conditioner on it, but never at any other time.

This is what it looked like a couple of months ago, just after having it cut: http://i48.tinypic.com/66iubo.jpg

This one was taken around 4 months ago and it just looks so much nicer! http://i50.tinypic.com/14l2iw.jpg

And this is what it looks like today… A mess xD I have straight bits! Now I think I have 2B type… I very occasionally get ringlets at the bottoms of my hair, but it hasn’t happened in a while.

I’m having it cut on Saturday, and I’m going to get more layers put in for volume. My hair just seems to be flat and lifeless at the moment… I also have a lot of split ends at the bottom!

I’m looking for a good leave-in conditioner that I could use… I have the Boots curl creme and it works okay, but I sometimes just can’t get rid of the crunchiness. I also need to by a hairdryer diffuser, because I haven’t got one, my hairdryer makes my hair frizz, and so I leave my hair to dry naturally. (Which is of course probably the best, but isn’t always possible when your hair takes hours to dry!)

Maybe I need to try just co-washing. I need to buy new products (my others are almost done anyway!), so can anyone recommend a good conditioner for washing, and one for conditioning? Hmm. I'm in the UK by the way!

Thanks if you read this all the way through XD I know it’s long!

My hair is fine and I need to sulfate wash on occasion to avoid build-up. A good ACV rinse is also helpful to me. You don't mention your hair properties so it's hard to know what products will specifically work for your hair. My hair gets a little lifeless when I've got build-up (hard water where I live) or I'm in need of a good protein treatment.

Dose your hair feel limp, lifeless, and greasy or dry and strawlike???....your hair properties would help you figure out what your hair needs...but I agree with mhen76 and do a clarifying treatment. However this isn't the same as using a sulphate shampoo...you need a clear one like Purell or Giovanni tea tree triple treat shampoo to SAFELY remove buildup and not remove the moisture...After this....you may need to change some of your regime... Have you tried protein??..your hair looks kinda on the fine side...and its possible that the oil in the conditioner may have built up on your hair...Or you may have overconditioned your hair...I actually have med texture and porosity but it acts more like fine/low porosity. I didn't know this a few months ago and was using coconut oil to seal my hair...after a couple of weeks...my hair was a disaster!!!!... It was frizzy, wouldn't hold curl, kinda of greasy...I received a hair analysis and was able to fix my hair...now I'm using the right products and im loving my hair...a GREAT website to help find out your hair bio is .....live curly live free...hope this helps...and good luck..

I like the last pics the best!! I would say whatever you're doing is working. That's what I want my hair to look like... just wavy at the bottom.
*sigh*... why is the grass always greener...
