Default Does CJ Cleansing Shampoo remove silicones?

Hi all. I straightened my hair last week for the first time in two years, and I used a silicone conditioner and silicone heat-protectant before using heat. Now I'm ready to go back to curly, and I was thinking I'd have to use a sulfate shampoo to get rid of the cones. I usually use Curl Junkie Gentle Cleansing Shampoo. Will this get rid of silicones, or do I need to use a sulfate shampoo? Here are the ingredients:

Water, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Lauryl Glucose Carboxylate, Lauryl Glucoside, Glycerin, Cetyl Alcohol, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Honey, Matricaria Recuitita (Chamomile) Flower Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Brown Rice (Oryza Sativa) Powder, Tocopheryl Acetate, Hydroxypropyl Methycellulose, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Tetrasodium EDTA, Fragrance.

The CJ website says Sodium Methy Cocoyl Taurate is a "gentle surfactant," but is that enough?

Thanks for your help!

I dont know all the science behind it... but I had used coconut oil on my hair...and my hair was a diaster!!... I used the cleansing shampoo...and it did remove the oil/product build up....if you already have it...give it a try...see how your hair feels...maybe you'll need a couple of uses....to remove it all...

Yes, it contains Cocamidopropyl Betaine, which removes any and all silicones, including those that are not water soluble.

Happy to help, Shelly. This is my quick reference page I keep bookmarked for silicones. If I have a "duh" moment, that's my first stop. Anyway, Cocamidopropyl Betaine is listed as adequate to remove any of them up to and including Dimethicone.

In addition to the Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate and Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Lauryl Glucose Carboxylate and Lauryl Glucoside also function as surfactants and cleansing agents in the formula Angel listed. You can Google individual ingredient names for more info, but they're all derived from coconut oil (and another chemical in some cases).
