Giovanni Smooth as Silk deep conditioner question

I think I have asked this before. I LOVE Giovanni smooth as silk conditioner, I get great hair when I use it. But, can I use it every day? should I dilute it? the other conditioners in the Giovanni line have glycerin - I dont think my hair likes glycerin.

Hi Myrna! I found the Smooth as Silk to be too rich for my hair but I'm glad that it's working well for you. The only way to know if you can use it everyday is to try. I think I would get overconditioned if I did that - I'm prone to overconditioning and easily get build-up. It certainly isn't going to harm your hair. Do some experimenting - maybe try every other day at first. Let us know how it works!

I wonder if I can get overconditioned if I low poo every day....which I do...anyone know?

I remember you saying that you like the Coconut Hibiscus Styling Milk. Seems like we might have similar hair. I like the Smooth As Silk. I would think you could use it every day if you like the style milk. I actually had to switch to the style milk because the Smooth As Silk was not enough for my hair in the winter weather. I guess it depends on where you live and what the weather is like but I consider the style milk to be more conditioning than Giovanni. I don't really know anything about how glycerin factors into all of this.

Glycerin, as I understand it, is a humectant. In theory, it should pull moisture from the air. But, I think - I am not certain, but I think - it just gives me frizz. I am going to try using the Giovanni daily for a while, and see how it works or not; I will use less. It really is a great conditioner for my hair.

I use the Giovanni Deep moisture conditioner, it says deep moisture not deep conditioner so I am not sure if it is the same thing because I don't use it as a deep treatment. I find that it isnt as rich and thick but it makes my hair easy to de tangle and feel really soft. It is light enough for me to use every day.

I've been itching to try Giovanni... How's the slip??

Myrna 12-02-2012 06:03 PM

It is pretty good, depending on how much you need to use. I just think it is a great conditioner.

Well, it's a good price, available in drugstores, and I keep hearing good things. As long as it will moisturize and detangle, I'm all for it!

Must go look at the ingredients now! ;)

Myrna 12-02-2012 06:25 PM

Let me know what you think of the ingredients, Jas. And if you like it.

Jas76 12-02-2012 06:47 PM

Ingredients look good! I'll have to give it a try sometime soon!!
