NO CAN DO!! I don't know if its that I've misted too much or what, but I end up with a "dense" semi-frizzy mess.
What I find myself doing is refreshing individual curls or frizzy bits throughout my hair by individually dampening them with a little water to reactivate the product already in my hair OR dampening and adding a little bit of product, twirling my hair around my finger and the coils spring back to life! Works like a charm for me. I will usually do this in the evenings as soon as I get home so it has time to fully dry before I pineapple at bedtime.
There's a curly girl (MelsharyA) on YouTube who recently made a video of how she does this exact same thing just to the frizzy bits. Check it out here>

I think it all just depends on the products. When u USED kccc I could not get 2nd day hair. Now that i use conditioner only to style I get 2nd day hair. I actually shower at night so I have to get 2nd day hair.
Water and condish in a spray bottle didn't work for me. I mist my hair so it's saturated and work the water through my hair. Then I get a good dollop of condish and smooth over my hair. My hair usually is frizzy so I reshape the curls with my finger and I get decent hair.

After reading all your responses I feel both cursed and blessed LOL I'm envious of those of you who can just spritz and revitalize your curls. Misting for me is like walking out the front door and into the Amazon jungle. A misting spray for me is humidity in a bottle
On the other hand, I'm a little mystified by the whole goal a lot of you have of getting "2-day, 3-day (etc.) hair". Once I wash and dry my hair it looks fine for at least 4-5 days w/out me doing anything to it (unless there's extreme weather or whatever). Pineappling, however, does help it maintain that "polished" 1st day look if I want that for some reason.

Ok, I sorta hate you right now, Korkscrew. Lol!!
I got 3rd day hair today - that's rare! If I had tried any real refreshing, I'd have ruined it.
We'll see what happens tomorrow after I wash and restyle it!
I will be trying some of your suggestions! Thinking maybe taming individual clumps with some LOOB and oil (may have to dilute to LOOB with water and/or LI). We'll see how that goes!

Also, I bet your hair is twice as easy to wash as mine (I have enough hair for a small army

That's a great analogy! It's so true especially for girls like us who have highly porous hair. Weather affects our hair more so than other porosities. I still have a heck of a time with my summer routine and frizz due to high dew points.
I finally have a winter/low dew regimen that's been getting me decent first hair day. I wear a loose low pony tail at bedtime and sleep on a satin pillow case. I've tried pineappling but it hurts my scalp and leaves weird kinks. My hair still has some surface frizz in the morning that needs to be taken care of.
I've tried misting first and then adding a little more kccc or uncle funky's, (kind of in a smoothing fashion) but I think the results are better on dry hair with just an added splash of water to the product in my hand to help distribution. Nothing overboard, that's when things can get stringy and sticky.
My new years resolution is to use less of everything

Wow, thanks, Korkscrew!
What has worked for me lately - only after good 1st day hair, I have to add - is detangling each individual curl (as needed), with my hands coated in Grapeseed oil.
If I have any curls that are completely flattened/frizzed, etc, I'll use some LI mixed with a tiny bit of water and coat the (former) clump. Sometimes I'll add gel, or LOOB, if it's particularly bad and needs major reshaping!
So that's the plan this far - curl by curl refreshing, no spritzing, and using mainly oil, sometimes condish.
Sometimes I'll use some flexible hold cone-free hairspray.
And if all else fails, I just put it up. Lol!

Jas, you're welcome
I do the same things you do sometimes if some random curl goes way crooked or whatever ... gel, a pinch of water followed by a dab of coconut oil (applied to specific curl). I've never tried grape seed oil. Maybe I'll go ahead and see if that's another option for me, because the coconut is wonderful but can be a little too heavy at times. Tangling isn't a problem, possibly because my hair clumps around itself so easily. LOL to the bun! Gotta love emergency styling - an excuse to keep things nice and simple

I really liked GSO! It's light and doesn't weigh my hair down at all.
I like EVCO a lot, but it works better for me in the warmer months. (though I still use it now as a pre-poo or DT.)

Light weight is terrific - I tend to layer products (conditioner/KCCC, then gel or EVCO sometimes to seal). It'd be great to use a lighter oil w/all that product, since my hair tends to get weighed down and OCd easily. So grape seed is next on my list ... I've never changed up my routine based on the season, but you know, that's probably because at the moment I live in a place where the seasons/weather is pretty mild and doesn't fluctuate much

Spraying water on my hair guarantees frizzy, cotton-candy looking hair. While my hair looks best when it is re-done everyday, I have learned to like (if not love) second day hair when I need it. I try not to wet my hair on the weekends and if I'm running late during the week, I make due with second day hair. I do have some surface frizz, but it isn't too bad and I get lots of volume, which I love.
Here is what works for me:
- If I know I'm going to do second day hair, the night before, I scrunch something into my hair when it is pineappled. Regardless of whether I do second day hair or not, I always pineapple.
- The products I like to scrunch in the night before are: Darcy's Peach Kernel Hydrating Milk or Komaza's Shea Butter Hair Lotion. I scrunch it in the hair pineappled and then drag my hands across the top of my head (over the hair that is pulled up), so that whatever is left on my hands also covers the hair that I haven't touched.
- The next morning I leave my hair pineappled while I do my makeup.
- I take out the scrunchie and using my hands from underneath, I gently shake my hair.
- I bobby pin my hair the way I want it.
- I then scrunch in another product. The product I have found that works best for this is Komaza's Califia Moisturizing Cream. I emulsify it in my hands and scrunch it in.
My hair actually gets less frizzy as the day goes on and the oils in the cream work their way into my hair. By applying creams and lotions to my hair (not water), it seems to lock in moisture and prevent frizz from forming. If I want to push it to 3rd day hair, I don't bother scrunching anything extra in it that night before bed; I just pineapple. Rather than using the heavier Califia Cream the next day, I just use the Shea Lotion to scrunch in.
Ironically I always get compliments on my hair when it is 2nd and (yikes) even 3rd day hair. What I have learned is the frizz that I see isn't even noticed by others. The last time I went to my hair stylist, I hadn't done my hair; it was on day 3. He actually to me - Why are you here? Your hair looks fantastic! lol

Same here. I pin some of the curls in front up and do a pineapple and I guarantee myself a second hair day for sure. But I add a little bit of water and hellllooooo frizzy messy hair!
I just don't mess with water anymore on second hair days unless I'm going to do some kind of updo and I need to smooth out the front.
