new oil!

so the other day i finally got myself same grapeseed oil! i have thick 3c hair and love using oils; in the last year ive managed to start a nice large collection of oils. All tried and tested on hair and skin.
ive always been reading lots of great things about grapeseed, though personally ive never tried it. My hair can take heavier oils as well, though i conditioner only style, and always add oil to my condish, (after my shower i use 2 different oils).
so last night i did my condish thing and mixed grapeseed oil with it. it is EXTREAMLY light, (yes, lighter then argan!) my hair soaked it right up. i think my hair really really likes it. i did seal with coconut oil as well.
i wouldnt mind trying it to message my scalp, on my face, and for a body oil. im really exited about finally trying it! :bounce:

Yay! I love oils, too! I bought some Burt's Bees Nourishing Baby Oil (it has no mineral, for the record), and it has grapeseed oil in it. Yesterday I clarified and added that to my poo and my hair came out AMAZING!

Haven't tried the straight grapeseed oil, but that's tempting... It's fairly inexpensive and available at my grocery... How does it compare to argan performance wise? Is Argan still your favorite?

you should try out the straight grape seed. i just showeredd and im trying it on face and skin as im typing, (oily keybored now!) well it certainly is lighter, i mixed it with my condish again and sealed with argan oil this time, have to see how it turns out when its dry, and how it is now that its winter. though i did notice today that my hair was really soft. its lighter then argan! i wouldnt have thought it, and just used it for my face. see how that is. i want to try it for a after shaving leg calmer haha ive got sensitive skin and get rashes after shaving or when i use water that im not used to.
sorry for the long novel :D

Ditto on the sensitive skin!! Pretty much always have razor burn! Let me know if it helps! Lol!

I may give it a try sometime - I'll put it on the good ol' PJ list! Haha!

My mother swears by grapeseed oil. She was a massage therapist and used it on all of her customers because it's completely hypoallergenic. I've yet to use it on my hair, but since I have wavy hair I think it'd be perfect because it's light!

GS oil just got bumped up higher on the PJ list! Lol!!! Thanks! KUP!

Love GSO! Doesn't break me out, seals nicely with my LI (conditioner styler too!), and I'm thinking about using it to try OCM;) It IS light and makes my hair so soft. I think it's sooooo overlooked here on NC....

have any of you used jojoba oil? if so, how would you compare jojoba to grapseed oil?

NvmbrCurlss 12-06-2012 09:40 AM

I used jojoba, but it's heavier. It's technically a wax/nut oil, so when used on my face it gave me cysts:(

Fmasuhr 12-07-2012 12:47 PM

i havent tired jojoba oil yet, i got too much to work though haha but with the grapeseed ive used it a few times on my face, i love to expiroment when ever i get different oils, and so far:
its an AMAZING make up remover! try it to remove that stubben eye make up ladies! its great.
great with definition
im a red head and it really brings out my colour!
so tonight im going to try it in a soft scrubbing mask.
my recipie: kolian clay, ground almonds, grape seed and a bit of vit E oil, then im going to exoliate a bit and see how it turns out!
grape seed oil has alot of vit c in it, and vit c is a healing vitamian. is also great for a gentle scrub.

where can i buy grapeseed oil? my wholefoods did not carry it, nor does my local health food store.

NvmbrCurlss 12-07-2012 08:26 PM

Vitacost.com

NvmbrCurlss 12-07-2012 08:26 PM

Pretty cheap too!

Jas76 12-08-2012 03:59 PM

Bought some today! Lol! It was less than $3 for a huge bottle at my local grocery store (Meijer).

Can't wait to try it!

Have you used it as a refreshing oil at all on dry hair??

Houseofcurls 12-08-2012 04:27 PM

The only store around where I live is a Walmart, but I noticed they had a huge bottle of "100% grapeseed oil"by bertolli (?) same brand as the olive oil I use. Is that ok? I assume its food grade since it was with the other cooking oils....I considered it...
My hair is loose curls, but hated coconut oil. HaTed extra virgin olive oil, it gets weighed down super easy. Anyone have tips about how to use it? I need step by step directions!
