help finding a leave-in for easily weighed down hair

I swear I cannot use leave in! But since it's been cold my hair is soooo flyaway and won't hold style. I need your help. Every leave in I try seems to make my hair feel coated and gross no matter how little I use. Can Anyone recommend something to me? I stay away from silicones and polyquats.

Thanks!

silicone and polyquat free leave ins:

giovanni direct leave in
yes to carrots leave in - does have a wax in the ingredients
kinky curly knot today leave in (may be too heavy)

You can also just use a light conditioner that you use as a rinse out.

Thanks, Waterlily!

I would love it if there is someone else like me out there who could never find a leave in light enough and then found their HG. Maybe that would work for me :)

My hair isn't fine, but it is wavy/curly and gets weighed down pretty easily. Kinky-Curly Knot Today is very, very light, though, and you could probably use a ton without it weighing you down :) I like that it's like and yet provides some moisture without grease. Darcy's Botanicals Daily Leave-in is one I'm trying, and so far, I'd say it doesn't weigh me down, but I'm going to test it longer. Maybe it's one of your stylers? Thick gels, creams, and jellies sometimes give my hair weight.

I third Kinky Curly Knot Today. My hair is very fine. KCKT is the lightest leave-in I've found so far.

I take back what I said about KCKT being heavy lol. It's also my HG leave in btw :)

I'm like you, leave ins just don't work for me. Too heavy.
I tried a brand called "curls" the product is curl curlada and my hair is pretty good today. I just try to use very very little amounts and I don't put it on the top layer/canopy section.
Before that I was using tresseme as my cowash and I would put that in a thin layer after my RO.

Thanks for your responses. Unfortunately, I've tried KCKT, and it didn't work either. I've been doing some detective work, and I think this might be a porosity issue. When I got my hair analysis, it came back normal porosity, but I've never trusted it. I really feel like my hair is low porosity. I've noticed that when I use leave-in without diffusing, my hair feels greasy, but when I diffuse, it feels fine. I think the heat from the diffusing helps the moisture get into my hair rather than sitting on top.

I use KCKT as a rinse out with great results it was too heavy as a LI

Have you tried spray-on leave-ins, such as EO's French Lavendar Detangler Spray or Beautiful Curls Curl Reviving Tonic? They're lighter than lotions or creams by definition while still delivering the ingredients you want.

I've been testing out the Darcy's Botanicals Daily Leave-in, and it's actually really great! It might even replace KCKT for me. It's similar in the slip and texture, but I feel like KCKT kind of elongates curls and pulls them down while the DB keeps them more bouncy. If that makes sense, haha. Also, I find it more moisturizing, but not in a greasy way.

I second Calendula's suggestion of the Beautiful Curls Reviving Tonic! I use it sometimes on dry hair in the morning to get my style back. Darcy's Botanicals Herbal Leave-in Conditioning Spritz is also becoming one of my favorites. It has really great herbs for healthy hair and is hydrating without being heavy :)

Hi my hair twin!!!:love5: I like to use good conditioners for the moisture aspect. And I use just a small pea size of CJ BCLI..Just enough to coat the hair and provide slip/detangle. I really dont use it to moisturize b/c it dose weigh my hair down. I can only use KCKT in low dews, which in FL is not very often. And I always deffuse my hair, which like you said opens the shaft and allows the hair to absorb the product. Soory I didnt help much, but maybe different conditioners may help. I really like the ones listed in my signature. Also check out live curly live free's pinterest site, has good ideas for products.

I saw the Beauticurls in your signature, and I think I'm gonna give it a try. Or maybe KCKT will work better at these dew points (I'm in VA.) I gotta figure this out for the sake of my poor hair!
