It would seem as though the product would go on first ... but I watched a you tube video of a woman with GREAT curls and she said she dries her hair about 50% and THEN uses products and finishes drying. I was looking for others' experiences for a consensus.

I apply product first. I apply the JCCC on hair that is scrunched with my CLU cloth but still wet then I apply the KCCC and scrunch again with the CLU cloth then diffuse. Some of it depends on the product itself as to wether it is best applied to wet, damp, or even dry hair. My second and third day hair is obtained with CJCIAB applied to dry hair but I had zero luck using that product on day one wet hair. It also has to do with the hair itself - if I touch my hair at the damp stage it will frizz and I will lose the curl. So applying products after diffusing would not work for me.
remember, with all advice or suggestions for your hair, YMMV!!
My hair:
2b wavy, medium texture, low porosity, med-high density. Protein finicky.
My routine:
Cleansing: DCNP, every 4-5 days (occasionally use CJ cleansers).
RO: CJSC, occasionally use JCDC
Gel: KCCC, CJCIAB for 2nd day hair (sometimes third)

Heat is my friend: warm water rinses, steam caps, and diffuse dry. I love CLU cloths and my Denman.

I read all the replies but I apply product first, then air dry for a while (like 20 to 30 minutes), then I blow dry the under sections only without using the diffuser attachment.

I pick up random chunks of my hair and concentrate the dryer on the under layers. I am standing upright because drying my hair upside down (even with a diffuser) makes it look crazy and huge but not in a good way. The whole shebang takes about 5 minutes or less and I get really good volume by doing this.
HG's: DEP Sport Gel or LA Looks Sport Gel - used over a leave in (alternate between moisturizing LI and a protein LI) and sometimes Giovanni LA Hold Hair Spritz

Method: Air dry 20 minutes, then diffuse for about 3 minutes for volume.

2/3 mix waves/curls - coarse, frizz prone, med. thick, porous, at-home color for gray, protein sensitive but I still need it sometimes, and I can't use glycerin in high humidity, NOT CG, wash with regular S&C 2x a week.

I could not sleep on my curls, they would disappear and not be there in the morning. I wash, condition, scruch in curl with a curlease towel, then wrap loosly with the towel. dress. unwrap hair, apply product, clip; wait maybe a half hour or 45 min (emails, makeup); then, I use a dryer with a diffuser. I could NOT sit under one of those things, I dont even like it at the salon. Nope. Get a hot sock for your hand dryer and keep it moving over your hair; and do the underside first.
