Default Does anyone know what I mean by this, esp "older" curlies?

Ok, so the issue is that i need my hair in front to fall forward, and I am having difficulty with this. It has a side part, and tends to fall back, which I think ages my face. So, does anyone know what I mean, and do you have any suggestions? for some reason I didnt have this problem when I was not CG and used to towel dry my hair, apply products, put my makeup on and diffuse. When I try a modification of this, it doesnt work.

I comb all my hair forward, "loosen" the roots, and comb again. Sometimes my hair is almost TOO forward from doing this, but with my back and neck problem I can't hang it upside down (especially when wet and heavy!) for very long. So I tip it forward to apply products, then side to side as I scrunch in products. Then I tip my whole head over to plop while dressing, etc. (I clip and diffuse after that.)

Maybe try that? (if you followed that?)

Um, no, it sounds confusing. You comb your hair when it is wet? see, I used to do that too...maybe I should do that again, but I think I wont get the curl definition. I dont comb at all now, other than to use my fingers in the shower with applying conditioner I scrunch in my products. that is one thing that is different, I used to apply them bent over, and now I apply them ala Deva method. I tried to go back to how I used to today, and wound up with a mass of frizz for some reason. I too have back problems, new within the last 2-3 years, and so it is hard to diffuse upside down, clipping and air drying are easier in that way, but my hair doesnt look like I want it to!

Could a haircut help? I tell my stylist to cut it so it falls away from my face (the reverse of what you want) so maybe someone can cut your hair so that it falls forward?

Sorry, I thought it might be confusing.

Yes, I detangle with a wide tooth comb, and then comb through with a finer tooth comb. If I don't do this, I get frizz. (too many hairs get "looped" or are "caught" up in the clumps). I do this in the shower, with some condish still in it. I comb it mainly forward, the I use my fingers to lift the roots so they arent plastered down from the combing. I'll gently re-comb if i loosened too much.

Then I scrunch in water to get the clumps and definition. That all just takes a couple minutes.

Then it's out of the shower to seal (LI and oil), apply gel, scrunch, then a short plop. When I seal and add product, I keep my head tipped forward. I will tip it to the sides a little when scrunching the sides, but mainly it's forward.

Does that explain it better?

Have you tried to twist the sections you want to fall forward and then clip them there when they are 1/2 wet? Then let them finish drying and unclipping? I do this to sections of my hair that wont behave. It seems to work for me. especially on my bangs which have a mind of their own.

I wash/rinse upside down and all my hair falls forward, I wish I could get it to go back!!! So, I would try that...rinsing the conditioner out while leaning forward, then products and diffuse a few minutes, or clip there.

Were you speaking to me? Because it doesn't take much time or even effort at all. Would take even less with shorter hair - mine's pretty long.

Really??

It all came from not being able to handle being all the way upside down!
