Default Does henna fade? Is it permanent?

I dyed my hair with pure Mehandi henna about a month ago. I loved the red color! However, now my roots are starting to become visible, and I kind of miss my mousy brown color. Lots of henna websites say that it will fade after a while, about 4-6 weeks. Will it really fade...or am I going to just have to grow it out and live with two colors? I like it, so I might consider redying it, but I also miss my brown hair too.

What should I do? Just wait it out...or redye it so my hair matches? Thanks!

It will fade a bit, but not drastically in my experience. I've read of people removing henna with ColorOops or lightening with honey or lemon, but I dunno. :S Do lots of research, m' dear. Try the "Henna for Hair" forums associated with mehandi.com. It's your second henna, so at least it's few layers of the color. You could also consider doing monthly henna glosses to ease the transition line.

I find that it's my hair growing out, not the henna fading.

When I thought it was too bright, I did try honey, lemon, yoghurt, and even Prell, but nothing affected the color.

Poema's suggestion of a gloss or a glaze might help if you want to grow it out.

Here's someone who used ColorOops successfully to remove henna: Successful henna removal. Yes, you are reading this correctly.

Thank you for the references!! I asked one of my friends if my roots were noticeable, and she said they really blend in with the henna'd length, so I shouldn't worry. I might just grow it out, or if I need to, I'll re-henna but add some cocoa to get a browner color

You could also add coffee to darken the henna color
