I found the key to getting looser bouncy curls!
I know it's great having healthy curly hair, but sometimes I want to change my 3b pattern into a looser more bouncy wave... And after years of experimentation I believe i found the answer! (And it's NOT braids lol) And i wanted to help out everyone who wants to change their curl pattern from time to time.
To begin with after co-washing and conditioning hair dont scrunch the hair! Rather gently comb the roots of your hair to straighten them out and finger comb the rest of your hair. Then smooth in a soft holding gel or mousse. Next let your hair air dry or diffuse, but when hair is almost dry get out your blow dryer and diffuser! Dry the hair COMPLETELY, but dont "scrunch" with the diffuser, rather pull down on the ends of your hair and dry it into a more flat shape. When your hair is one hundred percent bone dry put your hair into "headband curls" Basically you put a headband right across your forehead and wrap your hair around it ( If you go on youtube there's a ton of tutorials on how to do this) You can then either sleep like this or leave it in for a few hours..When your done gently take out the headband and you will have loose, voluminous, bouncy curls! They may need to be smoothed a little which can easily be done with a soft hold gel...Hope this helped someone!!
