SM curling soufflé!

No I totally believe those are the results you guys got (the greasy hay feeling)! I just meant it seems so off when compared to the results I got!

Houseofcurls - I got mine for Xmas, but I know they ordered it online from Walgreen's site. (Free shipping on orders over $25!) I have seen it at Walgreens in the store, as well!

I wish I would have kept it and sent it to one of you. I would have sent it to someone FOR FREE! I was soooo disappointed with it. My hair loves protein. I also don't have a problem with glycerin if that is one of the ingredients. I really don't know what it was. But like another described it leaving crunchy, weird frizz...yep that was my hair. My hair naturally clumps and is shiny, but this turned it into a frizzy, flyaway, greasy/shiny mess! lol I'm glad others like it.
I am intrigued by this product again… I had set it aside since the last time I used it (and got the "greasy hay" hair), but this Saturday I had nowhere to go and decided to try again. I only used the tiniest bit at a time, basically just enough to make a light coating on the palms of my hands, and then scrunched into soaking wet hair. My guess is I used about a nickel total (my hair is short, above shoulder-length). Plopped for ten minutes or so, then diffused to about 70% dry. Holy curls!! Like big, almost 3a ringlets on my normally 2b/2c hair. And in really low dews!! I was also impressed because I then proceeded to watch TV and rest my head on the couch for a couple of hours, which usually makes the back of my head totally flat… but not this time! Still had really defined curls.

My hair didn't get the dry/tangly/greasy feel that happened last time, so I think the key is just using much, much less than I do for some other products. It also didn't increase my drying time at all.

I got really excited and picked up some of the coconut & hibiscus shine and hold mist to use with it, because my only complaint is my hair was a little dull. This morning I did the same thing--scrunched in the tiniest bit of the souffle on soaking wet hair, plopped 10 minutes, then diffused. At 50% dry, I sprayed in some of the mist, and then diffused to about 80% dry. !!!! I'm loving the results! Bouncy, defined curls and waves. Plus my hair is shiny and so so soft (I think that's from the mist). Big bonus: I walked out of the house into a really wet snow this morning, soaked my hair a little before caving in and putting a heavy hood on. 10 minutes later, my hair was not flattened or frizzy at all.

Ok, sorry I wrote a mini novel here... I'm just excited! If my hair lasts through the day, I'll update with a pic later!

YAY!!!

But now this means I have to pic up the shine and hold spray... Lol!

Hope to see that pic later!

I got the same greasy hair first time I used it. The trick is to use very little. For my 4a hair (midneck if stretched with fingers so my hair looks like a curly afro), I measure and only use 1 1/2 tbsp. Adjust accordingly!
There's no trick to using that stuff in my hair unfortunately. I only used about a dime size amount when I used it the second time and every strand it touched did this haywire thing where it just bent at odd angles. Idk it's hard to explain..

Kilajo, did you use it on soaking wet hair? I use it on very wet hair. But hey every hair reacts differently.
I can hardly articulate how much more effective this stuff is for my fine, frizzy hair then regular hair gel A small amount defines my curls (Without crunch) SO much better than a handful of styling gel! *seriously loves on this brand*
I'm bumping this one because I'm looking for a new styling product and people recommended the souffle. I'm a bit scared though because my hair hates oils (which is why I have an almost full bottle of CCCL) and I've heard that shea butter is rather heavy (my hair gets weighed down easily.

I have done my research but I'm still in doubt whether I dare taking the risk. It's even more difficult to get than KCCC (I live in the Netherlands), so I'm wondering whether I'm going to try the souffle (I mean, I could use some moisture, so I'm thinking about just trying it and see whether it has the right balance for me) or whether is should get KCCC first as it sounds as if this is almost a miracle product for a great variety of curlies. Perhaps I can make my own FSG (I've never done that) and use that with the KCCC.

Anyway, my questions are:
- Does the souffle provide hold?
- Does it provide moisture?
- Does it weigh down your hair or is it light?
- Does it help with clumping?
- How about crunch?
- Can I use it alone?
- Any other things I should know as a low porosity, fine curly with easily weighed down hair?

Moisture, yes.

I would say its fairly light, as long as its used on very wet hair and in smaller amounts. It's very concentrated.

Clumping - definitely!

Crunch? Not for me, but others have said yes. (Again, if you don't use it on very wet hair you'd have more issues there, I'd think.)

Whether you can use it alone or not is going to depend on how your hair reacts to it. In the higher dews I've had less luck with it. I think if I tried it over less LI (and a lighter LI), it would be better.

Thanks for your answers, Jas! Wow, it sounds like the perfect product for my hair. I always apply product to very wet hair, otherwise I turn into a giant poofball :-P

Would you recommend it? (I promise this is my final question!)

I'm going to see if I can get it somewhere. I found this French website that actually sells it but my high school French is pretty poor so I can't find if they ship to the Netherlands.

I would recommend it, yes! I just can't promise it'll work for you, of course! It does have a lot of oils, etc in it, but I've heard people say their hair hates straight oils but they can use this.

I say give it a try if you can get your hands on some! You might check the swap board, too!

I just might be able to get it pretty soon! A friend of my boyfriend is coming over from the US to the Netherlands tomorrow. We realised that only today so we sent him an e-mail to see if he can get it at Target. I would be one lucky girl if he can! It saves me a lot of money. Otherwise, I can order it via Amazon.com, though I can't believe that it so much more expensive ($9.59 vs. $17.95 + $6.99 for shipping).

And obviously we'll have to see whether it works for me or not, but at least I have a clear idea of what it can do. Curlies with similar properties were really enthusiastic in my fine/low porosity topic. I'm convinced I should give it a try :-)
