Which one has stronger hold?
Hi ladies and gentlemen! Happy new year!
I want to try a new gel. Got my eye on two gels. Can you guys tell which has a stronger hold by looking at the ingredients?
Aqua (water), pullulan (natural multi-sugar), guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, linum usitatissimum (linseed) seed extract (flax protein), citric acid, tocopherol (vitamin E), citrus grandis (grapefruit) seed extract, glycerin (vegetable-based), parfum (essential oils).
Aloe barbadensis juice*, aqua, xanthan gum, cyamopsis tetragonolobus (guar) gum*, sodium alginate (algin), glycine soja (soy) protein, panthenol (pro-vitamin B5), allantoin, chamomilla recutita (chamomile) extract*, pyrus cydonia (quince) extract, malus domestica (apple), solar vitis (grape) and vaccinium myrtillus (bilberry) fruit stem cell cultures and BioActive 8 berry complex*, tocopherol (vitamin E), camellia sinensis (white tea) and hibiscus rosa-sinensis extracts*†, phenoxyethanol, vegetable glycerin, ethylhexylglycerin, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) and citrus tangerina (tangerine) oils*.
- my hair loves protein
- my hair dislikes humectants especially glycerin
Heh, this is like a puzzle.
The second one obviously has more protein but as far as hold, I *think* the first one may be stronger. My reasoning is its inclusion of a sugar and linseed extract (which is flaxseed gel). The second one seems to only have gums as holding agents, and my experience with gums in gels is that they are lighter hold. To my knowledge, proteins don't increase hold.
But to paraphrase another curly - I am not a chemist, I just want pretty hair.
Thank you! That's helpful :)
You're knowledgable about ingredients!
