"Curls Curly Q Custard/Curl Soufflé users-Need help ple

Okay, so I am having a heck of a time getting this to work for me and am just ready to give up! So this is my last cry for help b-4 I go the swap route. I ordered this instead of the Spiral Curls Cream, because of the added cones. I was hoping it would be a good curl definer/enhancer to use under my gels, and although it is very moisturizing, and smells delicious, it does not seem to work with any other products I have used it with.

I'm having great success with Curly Q milkshake however, but find that the Custard makes my hair weighed down and frizzy, and even dirty looking if I use a little too much. I usually have a lot of natural volume and tend to have drier hair that soaks conditioning products right up.

So far I have tried it over milkshake-(talk about over-conditioned!), under mousse, under light hold AND strong hold gels (PM Styling glaze and BRHG), and even on it's own. I have tried it on soaking wet and just damp hair, and it definitely seems to work better on less wet hair. It was a disaster using it on second day dry hair as a curl refresher though-holy frizziness!

So, my question is if you are having success with this or Souffle', how much do you use, what order in your routine are you using it, and what products have you had success using it with? I have long thick hair, med. textured with both waves and curls.

Thank you for letting me vent curlies!!!

I'm having the same problem. I'm liking the Milkshake as a leave-in, but I'm still working on figuring out Souffle. Hope someone can give us tips.

I've got a tub of souffle in my product graveyard. I've tried it every which way and have never been able to get it to work for me. I guess it's just not suited to everyone.
I never got Curls Souffle to work for me but I do love the Curly Q Custard. I admit it was tricky for me to figure out how to use it though. What I do is make sure that hair is very well detangled in the shower, then I squeeze out the excess moisture with my hands. Then I take a tiny amount of the custard and rub it inbetween my index finger and thumb and smooth that on to an individual clump of my hair. I do that for each section. On a whole I probably use about the size of a dime on my whole head of hair, that's how little of it it takes. I just know by how much it takes for each clump of hair to be smooth. It's better to start out with too little and then add a tiny bit more when your hair is almost dry but if you add too much like you said your hair ends up looking dirty so you really have to be careful not to use too much. Then I either finger curl the clumps or scrunch my curls a little to promote more curl and that's all I do(sometimes I diffuse). The custard is my favorite product for when I want to change my curl pattern a little because it seems to help the curl set however you mold it when it's wet, yet you still have soft, moisturized curls. If I want more hold, I use a little bit of Curls Goddess Glaze (although I have the old version now) and I apply it to damp hair after it's had some time to dry. I've only used the Goddess Glaze with it because the Goddess Glaze seems to work best on damp hair(not soaking wet hair) unlike most gels but now that they've changed their formula I have no idea if it would work the same way(and I haven't tried their new formula). Of course it's possible it just won't work on your hair but I wish you luck with it!
Thank you for the detailed reply IWCH! U have one of the most gorgeous head of curls I've ever seen BTW! I am definitely using too much by the sounds of it-next time I'll try using it my itself on damp hair, and a dime size amount like you suggest. At that rate, this stuff will last a lifetime!

I orderd the souffle a while back and was loving it at first, i used it on soaking wet hair on top of milkshake, I was a bit concerned as to how it was drying as my hair didn't feel like i had anything on it.
my hair did dry really nice, it was shiny, bouncy and my curls were tighter but not crunchy but there was something about it i just didn't like i now use it when i tie my hair back in a bun for work.

Oh and i whipped it with a spoon it before i used it to make it smoother, not sure if that had anything to do with it?

Those are my two HGs during the winter. I'm so upset that they changed the formula for the Curly Q Milkshake though. I liked the formula just the way it was. :x
Iwantcurlyhair, how are you using Milkshake? Does it pull some of your curl out? I love how soft it makes my hair, but this morning I have more wave than curl (that's not always a bad thing), maybe I used too much.

Well, first of all are you using the Curly Q Mlkshake or the regular Milkshake? I ask because the regular milkskake did pull some curl out of my hair but the Curly Q version seems to be a little lighter(at least it seemed that way to me). I also don't use the milkshake everyday because it has so many rich ingredients in it(the same way I don't use oils on my hair everyday). It just becomes overkill and eventually my curls look stringy and weighed down. I would say I use the milkshake every 3 days or so at the most. But yeah, I don't use very much of it when I do. I really like to use it on my ends and wherever I have some dry frizz, it really keeps my ends moisturized like nothing else does. The milkshake is definitely another product where a little goes a really long way. It leaves my hair so silky and soft though!
I'm using the regular Milkshake, and now I'm sure I've got some overkill going on. I think today it's because I used the new CJ Coco-Milk Conditioner last night, and I just realized they're some similar ingredients in both. Thanks for reminding me not to overdo it.

Aghhh did you have to bring up that new CJ product?? I've been trying my hardest to avoid all the posts talking about new products since I've been sooo good about controlling the PJ lately. Must resist, must resist! LOL anyways, yeah there is definitely a lot going on with the mixture of those two products. Glad I could help...and if you don't like that new CJ conditioner PM me please and I'd be happy to take it off your hands. (I'm so weak.)
