Is washing hair everyday bad?
I wash my hair everyday. Mostly bcuz when i got to sleep, my hair molds to my head..lol Tragic! So I rewet it in the shower everyday. I sometimes co wash it, sometimes i just sit under the shower. ANYWHO. I do this EVERYDAY. I recently told my aunt this. She is also natural...Well was ..!She told me that it is not good to wash your hair everyday. She never knew much about natural hair. That is why she is back to relaxed hair now . Even though i know a lot, I have never actually thought about this. Im sure this is false because curly hair ESPECIALLY needs moisture.

I think as long as you aren't shampooing it everyday it's fine. Water is suppose to add moisture and conditioner is great for curls ( at least it is for my hair). I wash my hair about five days in a row during the week with a light conditioner after a workout and have no issues. Maybe your aunt thinks you are using shampoo in the shower?

I've been wetting my hair everyday for a long, long time. I don't wash it in the sense of using shampoo everyday, but I've always rinsed and conditioned everyday, sometimes cowashing and other times just detangling with conditioner. I've never had any problems with dryness, split ends, dandruff, itching or really any hair and scalp issues that I can think of. It could either be due to my hair being well moisturized or possible something else, I don't know. But certainly it's never caused me problems...

You're not washing everyday--you're wetting it! I, too, have been wetting every day for a LONG time. I'm 61 and have been wearing my hair curly (and wetting every day) since I'm 23! I washed every day until I started lurking on nc.com.

My hair likes to have water every day be it rinse, cowash or spritz. That is part of why i don't do many rollersets. I can't figure out how to keep my hair moisturized after day two.

I re-wet my hair everyday. As long as you're not shampooing it isn't a problem. My hair is about your length now and when it's that length it just doesn't do well being slept on. It really doesn't.

this is very true! Maybe she thinks that I am using shampoo. OR maybe the person that told her assumed this!

Thats also a good point. My scalp never feels dry or anything either. I dont know if i have split ends I kinda wanna go get a consultation to see how healthy my hair is. But even if it is damaged, adding moisture and conditioner to it everyday couldnt harm it.I just figured wetting it everyday was removing any healthy natural oils that may already be in my hair ..hmm

Yes this length is just a little awkward. Either way I love how my hair looks when i wet it everyday versus doing protective styles and twist outs and all that stuff. Even if it wasnt too good for my hair..I prob would still do it lol

Yeah I think with our curl type our natural curl pattern is cuter than twists...and let's face it, less effort . My hair prefers less manipulation too.
