To MontoLyze20. When I refresh hair for 2nd and 3rd...day, I only use water in my spray bottle. It works for me but some may want to add a bit of oil. It is kind of trial and error.

Hang in there is all that I can say. It took me about 6 months to find which products and techniques worked for me. I would suggest Live Curly Live Free - Home for a hair anaylsis. I did it about 1 year in and basically would have saved myself a lot of time trying different products because their recommendations were what I had figured out myself.

For a DT, I honesty take my SM masque, mix it with my GVPCB, and then I add some EVOO and some honey, and a little ACV. I leave that in for as long as possible, add heat if possible, then comb and rinse out! (I've even put a bag over it and a sock hat over that and slept on it!)

For a PT, I'll do the gelatin PT, or I'll use ION (same as you) and/or the SM masque, and add some EVCO and a little ACV. (Both of those last two ingredients go into my gelatin PT, too - they are supposed to aid in protein bonding and retention.)

Well yes now I'm mod cg but I am going to try full cg again! I tried leaving my cond. In when I wash but it was toooo heavy and so I found cure care which works great doesn't weigh down at all! I use suave for cowash, gvpcb for RO. I tried vo5 for cowash but it became heavy on my hair after a while I guess. So for second day hair I. Just spray a little bit to refresh curl? Do I apply any kind of product or just spray?

So many different refresh sprays are out there. I think lavender isn't as heavy and many different companies make it. Shea moisture has a refresh spray (not lavender) but it seems many CG's like to bash shea moisture bc their products are more thicker AND you have thinner hair it probably won't work. Remember, we can all help and you can take our advice, but it's all trial and error unfortunately. It sucks bc you trial it out, get excited, and then when the end result isn't what you want you feel defeated. However, that's the risk/journey of becoming a CG. Always remember you have thousands of women on here to help you.

On a side note, even though you have thinner hair, I still would recommend a little amt of coconut oil. If you don't use it excessive then it should be fine. Also, I highly recommend the plopping method regardless of long or short hair. It is simply a matter of making sure all the hair remains towards the top of your head.

Once again, Good Luck

Oh my gosh...I tried second day hair today. Ahhh horrible. Ended up having to make a braid bc it was frizzy and gross! I did the pineapple thing before bed and did not work!. I will have to keep working at it but not feeling too great about this. I sprayed a little didn't do anything, ended up spraying till my hair was all wet! Haha and it was too frizzy on top to even try and style. On to the next day of fustration!

Just a note on 2nd day hair - there are several of is who CANNOT refresh with water. If I do, my hair turns stringy, frizzy, and all-around terrible.

Really for 2nd day hair to work for me, it has to be day 1 hair that survives the night. (I don't pineapple or anything, I just use a satin pillow case). Then I can tame frizzies with some oil (jojoba or SM's elixir) on my palms/fingers. I go clump by clump and run my fingers down the clump while twisting it toward the curl direction, then smooth the crown with my palms.

Any curls that got flattened I will talk a TINY dab of condish, wet my fingers, and rewet that one curl. Then I'll coil it up to make a pin curl, clip in place, wait a few minutes and then take the clip out.

Sounds long and involved - it really isn't.

If too many curls around my face are squished I end up putting my hair half up. Or if its bad enough I'll put it up I to a twist or something.

Good luck!!
