Curls gone after having a baby
I had a baby 2 years ago and have had curly hair all my life. However slowly but surely the curls have been dissapearing.
So much so that when I wash and condition my hair its poker straight! But not straight enough to be able to go out in public, its pure frizz straight.
So everyday for the past few months I've used a curling wand which is doing my hair major damage. Everyone I've spoken to says its hormonal. Anyone any ideas. I'm at my wits end :pale:
If it isn't anything you are doing to physically damage your hair such as using heat, dying, using chemicals and it isn't due to any damage or products then I would also guess that it could be hormonal. Have you spoken to a doctor? Maybe you should.
Are your roots and new growth growing in curly?
In the meantime have you tried any serums and other such smoothing products to help with the frizz? Maybe you could try some while you are figuring out what is going on.
If you are worried about the damage you could be doing with the curling wand I'd suggest searching for some videos on how to curl your hair without heat, many women are using safe heat free methods to get really nice curls. Maybe giving your hair a break from the heat styling will allow your hair to grow in healthy and hopefully curly again.

I've checked it out with the doctor and I had blood tests done to check everything is in order, they came back fine. My new hair is poker straight as well. I'm totally at my wits end as I cant go out of the house without curling it, otherwise I look like I've just got out of bed. :mad:
Maybe instead of curling it, use a good moisturizer and sleep with braids or flexi-rods?
Sponge rods, flex rods, pin curls... Depending on the length, sock bun curls are GORGEOUS. (And easy!)
If the blood tests came out with normal thyroid and hormone levels, etc, then you could try supplements to be sure it isn't nutrition based. I don't know who you saw, but you might consider seeing an endocrinologist instead of a GP. They'd be more likely to identify a problem.
There are some people who have straight hair and their pregnancy turns it into curls that stick around after delivery, and the opposite can happen, as well. :/ I would try protein treatments, lots of good moisture, LI, oils, and scrunching in some gel. See if any of that helps with your frizz issues. It would also help to identify the source of your frizz.

I lost my curls as well, but it was after I dyed my hair.
