Default Is heat protection necessary for hot rollers?

I'm not sure how hot they get, but considering my hands and scalp can handle them no problem, I would think they're not hot enough to cause damage. Do I still need to use silicones for them?

I would just to be on the safe side, but it's really up to you. Also, it sort of depends how often you use them. If it is very infrequently then you might be okay with no heat protectant.

No you definitely don't need silicones, shea butter mixed with grapeseed oil is a really good heat protectant and natural.

I did not know that! Is there a particular ratio that I should use?
