Uhh, Idk how this stuff works, I just have a question about my hair, and I figure people here can answer it, so yea, hopefully. I have curly hair, obviously. I'd say 3A. The top is heavier, so the top layer of my hair is less curly, which looks super awkward. I just got my hair cut shorter, a little below my shoulders, and got more layers put into it to avoid some of the heaviness, but does anyone else have any recommendations? I'm already clipping the top layer to create a little more volume too. So yea. Thanks :)

Sounds like you've already taken some steps which might help. Other stuff that comes to my mind is make sure you don't weigh your hair down. Do not use too much oil. Do not use too much leave in or styles. Do you have fine hair? Then I advice a light or medium hold gel.

I have pretty thick hair; although, with the layers, it's a little lighter than before.

Do you comb and apply stylers upside down? Some people find that helps.

I can't really do that do to some neck problems, so I just lean forward and try to lift the roots as much as possible. Then I plop upside down, and clip when I take it down and either diffuse or let air dry.

I do not comb my hair, but I do apply my products upside down and clip it.

It could be that your part is to "plastered" down from combing.

When you apply your product upside down, you might try running your fingers along your scalp (sort of like you are about to comb through your hair, but just stay at the scalp) and lift the roots a bit, especially around your part.

If you plop, then that may help further.
