How much did it cost, if you don't mind my asking? I happen to live close to a deva salon but the reviews on yelp weren't so good. Also I'm not due for a hair cut for ages as I only go every 6 months but I wouldn't mind getting mine reshaped. Your hair already looked great before but I can see the difference. And yes let us know how the self styling goes.

except for the devachan salons, i am sure cost varies greatly from location to location, cost of living sure does!!!! you can call you salon and ask what they charge for a deva cut.

Well I styled it today for the first time after the haircut on my own. It turned out pretty ok. The only thing I did notice is it was a lot less dry when I got it done I don't know if it was the deva products or just something I did different. I have to work on that. I think I am gonna try grapeseed oil (I think that what it is lol) to seal the moisture in since I heard it doesn't get absorbed in the hair and that should prevent it from drying up.
Here are some pics with it still wet

Very nice!! Your curl pattern looks a lot like mine - except that yours is even all over. (And lovely!) Mine is loser in front and sort of on top. (My devacut didn't help that, but I'm tempted to try again.)
Glad it worked for you! Do you like it well enough to get another devacut next time?

I don't know if its the devacut or if its just doing CG, because I got my cut only 2 weeks into doing it. Either way my curls and waves are more defined and lay much better now.
First before cut, 3 days CG
Second after, 14 days CG

I can go up to 6 or 8 months or even a year without a haircut and be okay because my ends are resilient. They don't split, they just get a little dry. But even then they don't thin out and look too straggly. So I was going to wait until summer for my next haircut but seeing this has made me think "maybe spring". Besides when you wear your hair straight the cut doesn't matter as much. Now however, the layers that looked so edgy and slick straight look sort of short in comparison to the others due to curl shrinkage. It's annoying because it's hard to reach that area and distribute product. So if I'm going to wear my hair curly, might as well get a dry cut. My only concern is the uneven layers. What if I ever wanted to wear it straight again? Would it look too noticeable? Anybody have anything to share on the subject?

Thanks rbb I think it feels more dry than it looks in pictures...I wonder if it could be a product I'm using this happened last time too. I've heard great reviews and how it was good for DT. Next time I will try without it and see if that helps and I'm still having a hard time controlling my frizz any advice on good products for this?

Jas - My hair was almost straight before I thought I had lost all my curls. When I first started CG I was modified and had horrible results looked more like medusa 😳 LOL some days I had a decent turn out. Once I started getting more involved and turned pure CG and experimented A LOT that's when my curls started getting more unified. Definitely keep trying and your hair looks gorgeous in your profile pic lovely color too 😊 Definitely will go back when I'm due for another cut.
Also super soaking/ice queen methods have helped my curls clump and look even. I think those are the names I soak my hair with cold water at the end of my shower right before I start applying products and scrunch like a maniac lol

Kibs your hair looks really nice and healthy. Is that your natural color looks very nice on you. I think it's a mixture of both a good haircut plus the right products can work miracles lol
Dusa I usually take about that long to get a haircut too usually I'd just have my ends trimmed but they can hold up. I'm thinking it shouldn't be more that 2 a year if I'm really lucky once a year which is worth the price. I'm curious about that too I'm wondering how it'll look straight. If anyone has experience please share 😉

what products do you currently use? you can look at my signature to see what i us. let me know if you have any questions about any of them.
frizz can also be due to drying too much with a towel, a curl ease towel, or flour sack towel, or any microfiber towel or cotton t shirt is good, and don't try to dry it all the way, just really get out excess moisture.

Longlivecurls, technically its pretty much my natural color (or as close to it as makes no difference) But I'm about 70% gray so I dye it a lot. I'm glad I have a crappy camera lol because you can't see in that photo that its actually two-toned right now. I accidentally used a different color the last time I did my roots (I did my roots and all of the top half) So now the top is slightly darker than the underneath. Its a dark brown in reality but i think the photo makes it look closer to black.

I think GVP CB seems to dry my hair not sure why because it has great reviews but the first time I used it as a DT my hair felt dry and my scalp felt itchy wonder if I'm the only one who gets this reaction. Last night I didn't use it and my hair feels better still a bit dry but not as bad and not itchy. I use Suave clarifying for cowash. Derma masque for DT/LI. SM smoothie & SNS curl activating gel for styling. I'm thinking of trying Biotera gel since I still haven't found a styling product I'm in love with. As for the frizz I use a MF towel but I think I might be squeezing too much water out. Will work on that. Do you use GSO as a sealer? If so does it work?

You can always say you have ombré hair lol. I used to have red hair and then covered with a black/blue and now it's a brownish color but the dye didnt quite take the same shade everywhere so I completely understand you. Sometimes mistakes end up looking good seems to have worked for you 😄

longlivecurls -- i do not use gso as a sealer usually, should take it out of my signature. i used it once or twice but found it to leave my hair somewhat brittle altho i barely had any on my hands. it was ok as a touch up after i had already used jane carter n&s, but not alone. i went back to using jane carter n&s to seal, love the way it makes my hair so soft.
