Deva Cuts??? Before/After

longlivecurls I've done that before too! aah, the dangers of dying your own hair. My stylist was like "um... you know you can schedule a time to come in and I can do some corrective coloring to fix all that" I looked on her website and corrective color is 100 bucks an hour. No thank you!

longlivecurls -- i do not use gso as a sealer usually, should take it out of my signature. i used it once or twice but found it to leave my hair somewhat brittle altho i barely had any on my hands. it was ok as a touch up after i had already used jane carter n&s, but not alone. i went back to using jane carter n&s to seal, love the way it makes my hair so soft.

jane carter n&s has never made my hair look or feel greasy, it is absorbed into the hair, yet does a good job of sealing for my hair. you start out with a small amount, she recommends a pea size, but i had to increase that to 2 pea size amounts, one underneath, one on top. not only does it act as a sealant for me, it gives my hair some elasticity, shine. again, all hair is different, so....

Sounds like a nice product what's the price range? I'm recently looking into sealing since I heard it helps to prevent your hair from drying by retaining the moisture. I've heard ppl use SM Smoothie as a sealer (I bought it a while back to try it since it said curl enhancing) so I guess you can say that's what I've been using to seal. But I'm not sure if that's true.

rbb, can you describe exactly how you seal with Jane Carter N&S? I use it to SOTC sometimes, but wouldn't even begin to know how to seal with it. It's so waxy - how do you distribute it through your hair? And at what point in your routine?

longlivecurls -- i've seen the prices for the jane carter n&s range from $22 to $18.50, vitamin shoppe being the cheapest. i was able to buy it during the december curlmart sale for $16.50. it's 4 ounces, the container is much larger than that sounds, lasts forever. depends on how much you use, you could even get a year out of it. i have to admit i've also been using it on my hands this winter!! and still, i'm not even halfway through it, and i opened this container about 2 months ago. i don't use this product in the mid to high dews, my hair loves moisture in the air. (i think you are allowed to ask once for one sample from the website, it is a one ounce size. and she does have sample packs comprised of several products. i have looked at but not yet tried any other of her products.)

rustina, i used to put it on dry hair if i needed it (last year) and that was okay. now what i've been doing since the fall is i apply my leave in in the shower, then blot the excess water from my hair and scrunch in a pea-size amount that i coat my hands with, on hair, my head upside down, coating the underneath part of my hair. then a pea-size amount for the top side of my hair. then i flip my head up, arrange my hair as it seems to want to go, and scrunch with the wet towel.

you may want to start with less, they recommend a pea size for your whole head. it's always good to start with less. my hair texture is medium, maybe on the coarse side, and it loves product. and this works well. there are very dry days that i might touch up a curl/spot here or there (usually around my face).

i can't say enough how much this product has helped my hair this winter, but everyone's hair is different. it may not work for you.

Glad they have samples might buy some since I don't really want to waste money on something that might not work for my hair.

longlivecurls, I endorse Jane Carter Nourish & Shine for being great at smoothing down edges and flyaways, for what it's worth. That's primarily what I use it for.. I don't think I'll run out of it for a long time too since I use it sparingly. It was worth the $20.

But the Curl Enhancing Smoothie does and can act as a sealer. It's chalk full of oils that help your hair. When I use it I don't seal with jojoba and my hair is still moisturized when I go to wash it.

P.S. Update us on the biotera gel! I was just looking at your signature and our properties are the same. If it works for you I'll try it too.

If its anything like the smoothie then I know what you mean it will last a looong time LOL I still have tons and I use it every time I wash my hair. I will put it on my To Try List. As for the Biotera haven't been able to try it since I've been going to the gym a lot. I just wash, air dry and then bun it up. Will try it out this weekend and will let you know. I'm happy I found someone with my hair properties...finally 😄

Finally used the Biotera gel hair came out pretty good still drier looking than when I got it done at the salon but I still have damaged hair from dyeing that hasn't grown out and I was in a bit of a hurry. The hold is ok but it's a level 3 so I say it does it's job my hair usually needs a lot of hold since it's thick. As long as you keep applying till you get the perfect hold, which shouldn't take that much either, you should be good. It does dry crunchy but you can easily SOTC. Lets see how it holds for 2nd day hair.

You girls have me sold. I am going to get a devacut now. According to Salon Finder, the one in my area with the most high reviews is about 20-30mins away. There are a few closer but each had less than 5 reviews where the other had over 60. I think it's worth the trip here in the 7-cities.
PearlRose good choice on going to the one with the most reviews. My stylist was about 30-40 mins away there were closer ones but that was the one that I heard was good from a thread on this site. Wish you luck and hope you post your before/after pics 😃

Set my appt for March 1st. The person I spoke to over the phone was very nice and informative. I'll be sure to share pictures.

Been doing CG for about a month now and just recently changed products and see a big difference.
Before I started my hair was so fried that I didn't have any curls anymore, just straight brittle frizzy hair. Now my curls are coming back I think the ends might start turning into little ringlets if it keeps growing. I think I've been pure CG (no sulfates or cones) since jan not sure tho. It definitely has made a BIG difference 👍
