I'm thinking about buzzing or getting a pixie cut!
I think im a 2c, not 100 percent sure but i'll post a picture!
I'm highly considering getting my hair chopped off. If i had straight hair I would have no problem doing this... I'm only scared my hair is going to become an afro, and of course the dreaded growing out stage... here's pictures of my hair currently Image - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting Image - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting excuse the weird face lol But anyways, im not sure how my hair would look when its super short Here's what my head looks like with no hair Image - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting Image - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting I just want some opinions and such from some fellow curly haired people. Be completely honest and if you've cut your hair short before let me know your story! |
I think you'd look great with a pixie cut.

Thanks! im just scared its not gonna be much of a pixie but an afro :(
And im not sure if i'd be able to straighten it if i had too if it was that short |

I'm really good with face and bone structure when it comes to hair. I think you would look amazing with a pixie cut. It would bring out your eyes and give you a sheek model look. I also don't think you'd have to fear an afro or east west effect because the texture of your hair seems wispy or delicate as opposed to thick and bushy like moi. As for growing it out, it depends on the person, but I grew out a pixie cut in one year flat eight years ago. (I really liked it, by the way, but it was expensive to maintain.) It was at my shoulders by the end of the summer. A year after that mid breast. :happy8: I still remember my roommate saying "You are such a *****!" because hers never grew past her shoulders no matter what she did. Actually looking back on it I think she may actually be a cherub curly girl but breaking her hair with too much bleaching, heat and straightening. |
Go for it!

yes --- let me live vicariously through you.
(My neck gets cold easily, and I'm waaaaaaaay older than you, so it's not going to happen for me.) |
I found some pictures of from when I had my hair cut off in 3rd grade!
I know I look like a boy, but I know how a woman face instead of a boy face and I'm no longer a tomboy! Image - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting Image - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting Thanks for everyone's opinion an support! |
I think it'll have a longer top if you get a pixie, but the fact that your curls tighten when they're shorter is something to consider. You don't want to be fighting your natural curl.
|
Yeah that's why I'm nervous but they do say that your hair pattern changes when you hit puberty and such so I'm thinking it might not be as curly? Maybe.... I don't know lol

Meh...children are androgynous. We only think they look like one gender or another because of our preconceptions. Most little boys will look like little girls with long hair and the right clothes and vice versa. It's all in our head. Little kids all look the same, with a few exceptions.

I think boyish women are sexy (I'm straight).

hi. i love pixies on women.ive had one for a couple of years. which i am on my 3rd attempt to grow out.:( i have very curly hair, 3a ish but when cut short has very little curl. what i do have is easily smoothed down with blowdrying. i got compliments all the time on it.
BUT, i am a girly girl, so i felt i needed to always dress up and wear full makeup with it. everyday. when i didnt i was self consious (sp) and felt like a boy. also my hair grows fast and i needed to trim every 3 weeks. overnight it would get poofy and big. thats the bad part. the good is how much time it saved me in the morning, i didnt feel like a slave to my curls and it really did get compliments all the time. i work in a salon and although nobody got it cut that way i sure did get the ego boost with it. wherever i went women would come up and comment on my hair and how they wish they would have the guts to do it. also keep in mind if u get tired of it and want to grow,... the growing out is horrible. as i said, this is 3rd attempt. im determained thia time. but u need to do what u want. pixies are great. u just need the confidence to pull it off. |
One of the reasons i want to do it is because I feel like it could help me break out of my shell and give me more confidence. I'm so tired of hiding behind my hair. But I'm scared its going to be the reverse reaction an ill end up hating myself lol like I feel like it'd be great, I would love to be able to shower at night and not in the mornings, I feel like it would make me feel free! Not to mention I could go swimming and to the beach and ride with the windows down and be able to coudle woth my boyfriend and touch my hair without it going bonkers! But I'm terrified of the growing out stage... Not so much of the pixie cut. Do you mind putting up a picture of like a before and after you got the cut? If you can find one at least lol if not that's fine! Just curious

Confidence it does gives bc eventhough i didnt feel my best i was proud of myself for making such a bold decision. Trust , i too was one of the girls who hid behind my hair i couldn't believe i did it. But i am sure glad i did. Not only did i experience having my hair shorter than it ever been I watched my hair grow out in all the phases and i have pix to go back to when i wanna see my hair short. I love it Sent from my MB612 using CurlTalk App |

How about talking to your stylist about growing out cuts? Tell her what you want and what makes you nervous about the outcome, and see what she says. A pixie can be grown into a bob, and from there.......anything!

Yeah this thread is dangerous. I'm just going to stay away from the haircut threads because they make me feel impulsive. |
