One Month In, before/after!

I'm happy with the results so far. Still fiddling around with proteins and moisture and trying to see what works best.

First pic is how I wore my hair every single day for probably 15 years. Heat straightened and colored.

Second is what used to think a "curly day" was. UGH.

Third is maybe day 5 of CG, a couple days before my devacut

And Fourth and fifth is today! (with no makeup, eek!)

My camera is awful (webcam) so its hard to see since my hair is rather dark. Its still changing day by day depending on how I style it, i'm still trying to figure out what works best but my curl pattern has become very different. I used to have pretty small individual waves (kind of what you see in pic 2) but now there's more definition and its like they're getting... fatter and more spiraly.

PS
Fine, Dense, med/high porosity, color treated

You look gorgeous! I too see a big difference in clumping, texture, and volume. Wow. Wait until next month. (I'm two months in now, I think. Started at the end of November.)

Thank you! I think I got another pic with my crappy camera that shows it better. I was trying to take some outside hoping the light would help show the curls in my dark hair, but this one standing RIGHT under my light works well to show the difference.

I'm generally anywhere between 2B-3A depending on the day, but I dare say some of these clumps border on actual curl. GASP!

btw this is just No-poo, olive oil root stimulater DT, and deva light hold gel and diffusing. no plopping today.

coarse yet silky dusalocks? I wanna know how you accomplish that! I want that!

Ericachristina 01-25-2013 04:30 PM

Looks good, your curls already look more defined.

They don't just "border"! They are popping and springing, darling! And just you wait. They are only going to get curlier.

As for the coarseness well conditioner. Tres beaucoup conditioner. My hair eats it up. Probably because it's high porosity and very absorbent. Yours looks plenty silky already. Oh and I was trying to find a picture of my hair before I went CG to show the difference in definition and messiness but it is so difficult because I would always wear it straight or back or something or other to reduce the poof. I finally found one though that is not from too long ago. In it I'm not using any product except maybe some biosilk serum. Excuse the scary white out face and the really dark lighting. (It's a phone pic.) I also look sort of drunk in that picture and I undoubtedly was. It's the only explanation for how I could let my hair frizz up so much without putting it into a doggone ponytail! Yuck! Okay but the second picture is my second day 2cish hair today which I did not have to restyle at all. I left it alone because I woke up with it looking nice and beachy. So it just goes to show just how great CG is at whipping your curls and waves into a manageable and presentable state. Decent hair without heat, tails or buns! Who knew? :toothy8:

Tomorrow is my 1 month mark. So I figure why not post mine here too...I do tend to dye my hair pretty often, going to do my best not to for a while, hahaha.

I want to say I'm a 2B/2C depending on the day. Unsure about everything else, haha. Just going with the flow of CG.

First 2 are from Day 1, 3rd is Day 2, 4th is Day 23rd or so, and the 5th marks month one.

kibs 01-27-2013 07:18 PM

pixar I dye mine all the time too. I've had gray hair since I was a teenager and i'm constantly dying it. I'm surprised I still HAVE hair. :D
I shouldn't complain, but the only problem I really have with my curls getting curlier is the front curls in BIG curves toward my face, and its sort of a pain with them always wanting to be in my face. If I switch my part to the other side it curves away, but that feels weird cause i've parted my hair in the same place since I was 10.

Pixar 01-27-2013 08:05 PM

Awe, kibs!

I want to see your bangs. :D I have a cow lick right where my bangs hang, rofl. I hate how my bangs tend to split and it leaves like a gap in between the rest of my hair. Maybe I'll find a decent pic to show you.

First one was taken a few weeks back, and the second was taken today. And yes, I just realized I do wear that shirt a lot. Rofl!!! Bleh...

These pics don't show it too much, I try my best to hide it, haha.

anonymous_133347 01-27-2013 08:57 PM

Kibs and Pixar, you are both jaw droppingly gorgeous. I have the same problem where my hair wants to be in my face. I have to clip them back when they dry because otherwise it's like:

Doodoodoo, Dusa trying to make left hand turn and bam! Big fat chunky tendril eclipsing vision! Honestly, it's sort of a hazard. My hair around the front is especially clumpy for some reason. And my bangs want to naturally part. I don't mind their parting ways, but I sometimes change the part on the second day for more volume at the root. Anybody else do that? It's fun to flip it!

kibs 01-28-2013 09:48 AM

When I DO clip back that one piece it will stay out of my face, but its like one big root wave and almost looks like a 1920's flapper finger wave, but bigger. I kinda hate it, but maybe I just have to get used to it, cause when I try to make it stop doing that, i over-touch it and the curl will just fall right out.

you can kinda see in in the 4th pic on the original post. Not the front side facing the camera, but the opposite front side, you can see how high up and volumey that one front wave gets.

anonymous_133347 01-28-2013 04:21 PM

Oh, I love flapper waves. I've been meaning for ages to buy the pins so I can do that hairstyle. But I can understand how that one piece will drive you bonkers. The hair around my face a tendency to go east west if I don't put extra product so I know all about pinning things into place. Have you tried finger curling or I think it's called skipcurling that one piece? I've never been able to do the technique myself (my hair prefers scrunching) but some make it looks ridiculously easy. I think waterlily716 had a video on it about styling side bangs.

kibs 01-31-2013 11:46 AM

Ive experimented with it here and there, I think those after photos were the day I tried it. It makes me nervous though to do it because when my hair is wet if I pull on it too much the curl will fall right out. Its annoying because I HAVE the curls, but they're so freaking fragile wet. I think I skip curled a few and then re-scrunched and it worked, but I have it stuck in my head that skip curling will pull my curls down rather than coil them up.
