Everybody's scalp/hair is different. If clarifying or low-pooing or whatever it may be once a week works for you then I say do it! If you start feeling dry you can simply switch to a gentler low poo and reserve the clarifying one for once every two weeks again. Just find a balance that works for you, I say. I stopped co-washing my scalp directly because it was causing what I thought was "dry scalp" (white flakes and itching, which I never had before CG) but turned out to be product buildup, or maybe an adverse reaction to the preservative in my co-wash. Now I water wash my scalp, do a tea tree treatment once a week, and use a Shea Moisture low poo once a week as well. In basically that order since I wash my hair every other or other other day. My scalp is happy again. It was never oily or dry before CG so now that I'm leaving it alone and not putting conditioner, a product designed to penetrate and be retained, actually on my skin, there's no more trouble.
P.S. +1 on SM Low-Poo. They have no nasty preservatives and plenty of oils so it's a pleasant and mild balance of cleansing and moisture.
