Working out and curly hair

What can I use to make a more neat ponytail for when I work out? If I don't use anything, my hair is all clumpy looking and frizzy.

I just got some coconut oil yesterday to add some moisture but sure enough, it makes a great ponytail too. So sleek and pretty! I didn't enen know my hair would so this.

I just don't want to use the coconut oil every time (unless there is a problem with that?) so if anyone knows something or can give me some tips I would be so super happy!

Oh ya and of course I would like to accomplish this without the use of a brush.
