Hooded Dryer vs Diffuser

Like Tree3Likes

Your welcome. I know what you mean about getting hair into a routine and then being hesitant to change it. For me though, if my hair no longer seems to be responding the same way to my products, I experiment a little to see if my hair is "asking" for something new

Ok, I am trying something new today. I didn't use regular conditioner as my leave-in. I have some Shea Moisture curling milk that was sitting under my sink. I used that as my leave-in and then used a small amount of gel. I don't know why I chose today because I have business meeting at 1:00 (crazy). LOL
I am hoping that since the milk isn't as thick that it will cut down on drying time. Just praying this works. :-)

Your hair may not be long enough to consider using curl towels to cut down on dry time, but it's worth a try. Many of us us Curls Like Us Curl Cloths - CurlMart You could try using a cotton tee shirt or flour sack towel to help squeeze out some of the water.

Nappy_curly_crown (who is looking incredible these days, I might add) made a good suggestion about trying other products. I know that my hair prefers the more natural products from the online, boutique type companies. Usually, a little goes a long way--which makes them more cost effective then it appears.

The other thing to try is rotating products. My hair has always satiated on product--even back in my shampoo/conditioner only days. I wet, use a rinse out and style every day. Seldom let myself use a product more then every five days.

Thank you. I have bookmarked the link for the towels. My daughter will be excited. She hates using t-shirts. :-)

I am happy to report my hair is 95% dry in less than 7 hours. Improvement!! I will take that over the 9 hours with some wet spots!! No frizz either. Yay!! I guess this means I need to use actual leave-ins as my leave-in versus conditioners (like my Ology)? This natural hair journey has been interesting, to say the least. I had to switch up my routine from summer and big chop to the Ology and now this. I may alternate products like you said. I do love this Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus curling milk with the gel. By itself my hair looked blah.

I will be on the lookout for the Fantasia gel and pray there's no aloe in it.

Thanks everyone!!

So excited! My hair dried faster and even better it dried extremely soft with no crunch. Hooray. And to think this all started with a diffuser. Lol

Thanks all!! :-)

Yea! I'm glad it worked out for you! You'll find that as your hair gets longer you might have to tweak things here and there. Just the nature of the curly beast.

And thanks for the complement KM!

Hi, your hair is very pretty does indeed look frizz free in those pics.

My hair looked similar when it was short and also had the same issue of it being wet forever. I didn't experiment with using a cloth or diffuser then.
I just accepted that it would be wet for a long time and I'd have to restyle in the morning (squished helmet curls that couldn't be refreshed).

Also Eco styler just doesn't work for me, I used it back then, but now realize it was probably the issue. I'm glad you found something that works!

And you mentioned the oil being in the gel, but you are using an actual oil to seal, right? Just wanted to clarify because the amount of oils in the gel probably aren't enough to do much.

Oh, I finally learned how to use the diffuser on my hair. I only diffuse for 10 minutes but now my hair dries in four hours versus six (nine hours prior to Shea Moisture). I have to use medium heat on high speed holding it away from my hair at a downward angle. I can't hold it next to my hair like other people. Also I found a way to get second day hair on my twa. I massage coconut oil in my hair sparingly, spritz with water, cover with a plastic cap, and then cover with my satin bonnet. My hair stays moisturized and not smooshed to my head.
