Compare SM Souffle and KCCC
Can anyone compare them for me? I've not tried KCCC, but I adore the souffle.
I'm also wondering about the SM Smoothie vs the Milk, and how those two might compare to the KCCC??
Thanks!!!

I absolutely love both KCCC & the SM Souffle. To me, they perform quite similarly, even though, ingredient-wise, they have some significant differences. The Souffle includes sugars, glycerin, and protein, which not all hair can handle. The KCCC is much heavier on the Aloe, has a bit of sugar, and no glycerin.
To me, each has it's pluses. I can use much less Souffle to get the effect I want, and my hair loves protein, so I like the added panthenol. On the other hand, it cannot be used in damp/dry hair, while KCCC can (at least for me). I've actually been using both products together (Souffle in wet hair, then KCCC scrunched in about three-quarters through the drying process), and it's working well.
I haven't tried the SM Smoothie or Milk, but I'm pretty sure those are quite different from the Souffle/KCCC.

I have tried both.
I prefer KCCC because it is less oily and my hair absorps the product better. I can use it on wet, damp, dry hair, you name it. It never fails to leave my hair defined, shiney, and moisurized. The souffle tends to sit on top of my strands, and mind you that I am highly porous! I think the sugar cane extract and all the oils are the culprit. I still use the souffle, but sparsely. For example, on SOAKING WET HAIR, I'll use the SM smoothie as my styler and a dime size amount on the parts of my hair that tend to frizz. I LOVE the SMOOTHIE! I always come back to it and will continue to repurchase. However I won't be repurchasing the souffle after I've used it up.
I'm glad you're having success with it Jas (:

I know lots of people don't like KCCC because they can't figure out how to make it work, but I've never had a problem with it. The SM soufflé, though, is a whole other story. I can't seem to figure out how much to use, when to use it, or what to use it with. I tried it as a styler with gel over top, I tried it as a gel over a LI, and its just not doing anything for me. Plus, it leaves my hair insanely crunchy, to the point that I can't scrunch it out. The first time that happened, it reminded me of the one and only time I tried adding honey to my gel - so it's interesting to me to hear that the soufflé has sugars in it. Perhaps that's why I get the crazy crunch with it. Now, I got less crunch when I used it over top of the SM smoothie, but my hair was undefined and had lots of frizzies. So my experience with the souffle so far is that I either get lots of definition with crunch that can't be scrunched out, or less crunch but no definition. I'll try it again in the summer, but for now, I give up.
Now, my hair loves KCCC, and I love it right back. I've never had any trouble using it. I've used it over any number of leave-ins and curl creams, and it plays nice with everything. I can use a little, use a lot, and it's always consistent. It works better for me in low dews, so come summer I won't use it as much. But it's a winter staple for me.
The SM soufflé and KCCC are similar in color. KCCC is more liquidy - when people say its like scooping out a glob of snot, they're pretty much right on the money. It has this weird property of feeling kind of like rubber cement when I scrunch it in wet hair - not that it's sticky, more that it's kind of wet and dry at once. I don't know how to describe it. But it's super moisturizing and the crunch is easily scrunched out. The soufflé, for anyone reading who doesn't know, is more like jello in its container - you have to scoop it out in chunks, and because of that I find it hard to distribute evenly.
Does that help?

The souffle leave my hair frizzy and undefined sometimes also.
That's why I just use the smoothie as a styler. My hair absorbs the smoothie nicely, but the souffle just sits on top of my hair and leaves a sticky sweet film on my neck, ears and sides of my face. Ick. That's my I use very little and only on my canopy.

This is a spot on description of the two products! I have both, but I prefer the KCCC: better curl definition (especially at the roots), less frizz, easier to work with. Just wish it had a better scent

The KCCC has a very sweet/sugary smell (almost like cotton candy or something). It doesn't bother me, but I like my hair prodcuts to smell sweet I also don't find that the scent lingers.
I agree with the previous posters that KCCC works better for me (its my HG styler, that and UFD curly magic), but I do like the SM souffle. I live in a dry climate, so I can only use the souffle in the summer, when the dews aren't too low for glycerin. The same is true of the smoothie, but I can use the SM milk year round (it's one of my favorite leave ins).
I agree, the souffle is harder to distribute than the KCCC, and is much stickier feeling. I can use KCCC on soaking wet or damp hair, but the souffle I have to use on soaking wet hair, or it feels sticky in my hair. But when used correctly (and in the right dews!) it gave me very soft, shiny, beautiful curls. I only used it with the smoothie and haven't experimented with other products, so I don't know how well it plays with others. The KCCC, on the other hand, I've used with lots of other products and I've never had any issues - love it.

For me it is the exact opposite. KCCC is hard for me to distribute and it gives me crunchy hair. The soufflé is very moisturizing and distributes well on my hair. I don't apply it in chunks, I run my finger through it and apply it in sections to my hair. It is stickier than the KCCC, but I am accustomed to oiliness, stickiness or tackiness when comes to using hair care products. I guess you have to be if you are going to use conditioners, gels, oils or butters. They both require a learning curve.

Personally, I can't compare SM smoothie and milk to the KCCC. However, I can compare the smoothie and milk. I think the smoothie is way more thicker and a little goes a loongggggg way. I bought my smoothie a year ago and STILL have more than half a jar! I personally prefer the milk over it since it has more of a slip and doesn't leave residue. I believe the milk penetrates better. I hope this helps a little

So I've never gotten hold of the souffle but I can review the other guys.
KCCC's scent is very light. Sweet but not cloying. (Thought I should mention it in case anyone was worried.) And it's gone almost immediately. For me I can use it in wet, damp or dry hair. If I use it in wet hair I'll get more waves and less curls because it really drags the curl down even though it helps define it in the first place. It's also more difficult to distribute in wet hair, so that's why I prefer to scrunch and squeeze out excess moisture with a t-shirt or MF towel before applying. A little goes a long way and it leaves a really light gelly cast that I don't have to scrunch out and unravels by itself. KCCC is wonderful because it defines your hair, leaves it feeling like you have nothing in it at all, and does not cause any buildup. (At least not yet.) My first day hair with KCCC is usually a little less curly than my second day hair but I think that's true of first day hair in general when it comes to me because my hair doesn't like being washed. Even though I cowash. It just seems to freak out a little. Go figure.
So now that I've been experimenting with the smoothie and the milk for a while I can finally compare them. The smoothie. . . Yum. (Okay seriously the SM products in the Coconut Hibiscus line smell so good it's dangerous because I get so hungry.) The smoothie is great as a base styler/leave in very wet hair and as a refreshing product in second day hair. It brings my curls back to life in a flash and does a fine job defining them in the first place. I can put it in dry hair just fine but then I'll get a bit of crunch so I generally prefer to water it down a little. Few drops. Nothing more. The milk is a good leave in, but doesn't have the curl enhancing power of the smoothie. It does, however, have serious moisturizing power. It makes my hair so soft and bouncy and I often mix it with the kinky curly knot today on the areas of my hair that are extra dry. It's more hydrating than the kinky curly knot today actually so it's a great leave in when you're going to use a more drying gel. Also because my hair is naturally dry and I live in a dry climate I'll smooth on the milk and scrunch up to keep my hair hydrated. My hair just eats this stuff up. All in all I think I will repurchase it. To compare the smells I'd say the smoothie is less sweet, more flowery (hibiscusy!) and the milk smells like a pina colada in my hair. (But clean, not trampy like I've been out all night drinking. LOL.) If you'd have to purchase one or the other I'd recommend the smoothie because of the curl enhancing power.
(Also it goes without saying that all three products play well together in my porous thirsty hair.)
