I occasionally see girls with curly hair that I want to tell about naturally curly and the CG method. I want them to feel happy with their hair like I do, but I don't want them to feel like I'm saying their hair looks bad.. I can just notice it because I obsess about curly hair. I'm thinking of one instance where I noticed a teen girl with absolutely beautiful 3a/3b long auburn curls, and she had the same halo of frizz I had before I switched to sulfate-free products. She was working at a store I was shopping in, I didn't get to talk to her because she was busy and I was short on time. What would you say and how would you say it?
Personally if no one ask for my opinion I don't say anything.

I have made comments to fellow curlies. But I've only ever said "Hey you got curly hair too! You should check out Naturallycurly.com!" I never mention anything regarding the state of their hair though. LOL I once had someone mention to me..."You know you have a bunch of grays in your hair!" and I was pretty miffed...."Yes I KNOW I gave grays that's why I'm currently shopping in the hair color section as you can see...."
I carry a few Naturally Curly Ambassador cards in my wallet and give them to curlies inviting them to join this site. It's a great way to spread knowledge and info without putting anyone on the spot. They can be ordered here:

Kiva! Microfinance works.

Med/Coarse, porous curly.
I would only say something if she said something about my hair. I've had people say things like, "Your curls are pretty, mine are frizzy!" to which I will say something like "Thank you so much. I used to have very frizzy hair until I figured out how to take care of it." If they ask for more info, I'm happy to launch into the full spiel. I wouldn't want to accidentally insult someone by suggesting they make a radical change in what they do their hair.

I understand the need to help people and suggest something that will lead them in the right direction in curly hair care. I wouldn't say anything about the state of her hair but if I was talking to her I might say that I like her curls and ask her if she has heard about the site. It would be easier if you were already in a curly hair conversation. I don't see a problem with mentioning it casually, if she takes the advice fine, if not oh well.

Got to think, with all the criticism a teenager goes through in school, they might take any input from others to be kind of annoying. If I hadn't run into some Brazilians when I was a teen, I would have though I was a freak. But still, someone suggested henna to me the other month and I kind of felt like they were all up in my business without asking. So, you just have to say the right thing at the right time.
I don't really talk to strangers about their hair (much as I'm tempted to), but you had better believe I'm telling every curly and wavy I know personally about the CG method, this wonderful site, and products/ingredients that typically work for people with similar hair types to theirs. I like spreading the curly gospel. And when strangers compliment me on my hair and ask what I do I say check out naturally curly.

One thing to caution on is that not everyone's hair issue is going to be caused by the same thing. I have some halo frizz and I don't use sulfates. I have under active thyroid (which causes thinning hair) - and was recently put on meds - so I now have new growth coming in that is noticeable where I part my hair. If a stranger randomly told me not to use sulfates to eliminate my halo frizz, I would think they are not as smart as they think they are.

I would only say something if the person asks about my hair. I actually had three different people this weekend ask me what I've been doing with my hair. All of them curlies or wavies. In these cases, they expressed an interest and frustration with their hair, so I directed them to this site and described the CG method.

This is good advice. I wish someone had told me about CG sooner but I will continue to keep my thoughts to myself.
While I agree that most people would take offense to being approached by a stranger with hair advice I would have welcomed it ! Maybe giving out business cards for nc.com would be less intrusive :-)
