these are the lengths I want to go to, but I'm worried my hair will be too thick and end up looking poofy!

any advice or suggestions please!

I have extremely dense and thick 3c hair, & I prefer my hair long. The extra weight weighs it down more so its not so big (I've got a lot of natural volume)

The photo you are considering doesn't look that short so I don't think your hair would look puffy or become unruly.

Yes, it's a long bob and if they layer it right you should be fine. Also I know from experience you could go even shorter if you liked. Whoever says you can't wear thick or coarse hair short doesn't know what they're talking about.

I think it would be fine. That haircut really is not that short, I would actually consider that med-long.

I'm 3a too, and i also have a lot of hair...i cut my hair a lot shorter than that, when it's dry it drops just above my shoulders; i think the length in the 2nd picture would be no problem to pull off, it's all about the layers!

The look you are considering is still considered long in the world of hair. I don't think it would look bad at all. I have very thick and dense hair that's a mix of 3a & b (mine gets curlier as it gets longer) and a bit of 2's mixed in around my face. I have had my hair every length imaginable, and loved it all, other than pixie.

The trick is getting long layers added in the back so it's not too bulky. Don't ever let anyone thin it, just layers.

definitely go for it if thats what you want, if you want a change, but my honest opinon is that long thick curly hair (provided it's not frizzy, well cared for, shiny, etc) is so lovely and so many people envy it, i really think your hair would look even nicer if you grew it long! thats my opinion, of course, but i just thought i put that out there, anyway, back to the actual question, i think if you got the right cut for short hair it could look nice, however i am probably wrong but surely it would get slightly poofier (not bad poofy) simply because the curls arent as weighed down so they are curl more, causing the hair to look a bit bigger? well thats what happens to my hair anyway haha
