BREAKAGE! Over moisturized!

Please help, my hair has been getting really mushy and waxy so I though I had product build up, but after clarifying twice it wasn't fixed. I just realized that it is over-conditioned because I stopped using protein a few months ago and started using heavy conditioners.
How do I fix it? Do i use protein or only wash my hair with shampoo? The only brands with protein I could buy in Australia are Joico and Tigi.. Please help me!!
My hair has gotten really weak now and stretches and breaks so easily.

Hit it with some protein. To get a good dose, try using Knox gelatin. There are recipes here on the boards.

I would focus more on using some protein rather than lots of shampooing. Joico K pak could be a good start, or Tigi - I am not sure if they are all totally CG but I wouldn't worry about that too much right now. If you can get A'kin they have lots of stuff with protein in, there are probably more options with protein than you think once you look around but if not Joico and Tigi should be fine. I am not sure how long it will take to see a difference if protein is the issue and you start using it, but you can keep an eye on it and hopefully you'll reach a balance point where you can just maintain, using a mixture of moisture and protein products. If protein helps then you're obviously someone that does need some, but how often you'll have to find out by trial and error I guess when your hair is back on track. Don't worry, I think a few protein treatments will probably sort you out.
