Ladies who use grapeseed oil. . .

How do you like it? Is it good for sealing? Do you ever massage it into the scalp? Use it for deep treatments? I was doing a google search but realized it'd be best to ask the community again. I always get such fabulous feedback on here.

I use it! Honestly I use it on 2nd day (or even later in the 1st day) hair to refresh/smooth frizzies and sort of reform the clumps. This is the only oil (aside from SM Elixir) that I can do that with and not get greasy or weighed down.

I have not yet tried it for sealing or as a treatment, but I hear a lot of people like it as a sealer! I've heard some use it on their scalp, and that it's great for skin in general.

I would like to experiment with it more, for sure!

I used to seal with it but once my hair got healthier and more moisture it became too heavy for my hair. I guess it could be a good scalp thing, but I wouldn't put it on there day to day, but more of an overnight thing.

I use GSO as a sealer. I mix several drops into my LI and call it a day:) I also use it to smooth into a high bun for bed, if needed. I love me some GSO!!!

I like the idea of mixing several drops into my knot today leave in! And oh yes, if I were to massage the scalp with it I'd do it as part of a deep treatment where I slept with my hair in a shower cap for the night. My scalp is neither oily nor dry naturally so I imagine it'd look oily if I put straight up GSO on it for the day.

I like it because it is a lighter oil and when added with other oils for a hot oil treatment it helps make my hair feel nice and soft. I did try it to seal my ends and it didn't make my hair look too greasy and limp. I don't usually style with oils or leave them in after a deep treatment but my hair can actually stand small amounts of this oil.

i somtimes use it as a sealer. or ill add it too deep treatments. i really like how light it is, and that it does help with defintion and my hair just looks shinnier after using it.

It's in my hair right now! I mixed three drops with my KCKT and it's playing nicely. I think it works as well as jojoba for sealing. I'm going to give myself a good scalp massage or hot oil treatment this weekend and report back.

^^^Glad ur having success!

I've used GSO as a cleanser and moisturizer for my face for a while but didn't try it on my hair until last week. It was terrible. I left it on over night and it just sat on my hair all night and looked exactly the same (really slick) in the morning and I had to wash it out. This is one of the ways that I realized I have low porosity. I'm not sure if it is just a GSO thing though because in the past I've used other types of oil and they just sit on my head until I low-poo them out. :sad1:

i mix it with my condish and use it as a styler it seems to be my fav way of using it, that and sealing. feels good on my scalp as well.
ooh yea i also use it on my face, its GREAT for getting eye make up off! alot easier on the eyes then using normal make up remover, it moisturisers the eyes as well and ive heard that it aids in lash growth, though i personally cant say anything too that. it soaks in nice and quick and leaves my face soft and fresh. try it ladies!

I didn't do the hot oil, but I did a deep treat. 1 tbsp GSO, 1 tbsp EVOO, 1 tbsp EVCO, 1 tbsp honey. Threw my hair up in a shower cap to let my own body heat warm it up and went to bed. I woke up, rinsed, and wow is it silky today. :tongue10:

I've always used jojoba to remove eye makeup but I'll try GSO too! I like putting coconut oil on my face and skin. Maybe I can mix the GSO with that.

Jas76 02-16-2013 05:42 PM

It works great as a make-up remover!!

It might not be a low porosity thing. Actually I think that's typical isn't it? I mean I know the oil will absorb into my hair to a degree but it still looks rather slick and a bit matted when I wake up and take the shower cap off. You're supposed to wash/rinse out deep conditioning treatments with heavy oils I'm sure. (Especially when you use as much oil as I use for a DT. :laughing5:) It's just that you want your hair to have retained some of the moisture so you leave it in as long as you can then you get rid of the excess. Maybe the GSO did penetrate your hair somewhat only it didn't look like it. Did you notice it being any softer after you low pooed it out? Or maybe your hair is just very healthy in general and didn't need it.

Thanks to you Jas I went from washing my face twice a day (when I showered and then at the end of the day) with gentle organic soap to just once. And that's in the shower. Now I still use jojoba at the end of the night as I always did to maybe remove my mascara and then eye shadow if I'm sporting it. But then I use the JO to wipe the rest of the face of any dirt or debris that might've gotten on it that day and add some more (sometimes coconut instead) to hydrate my skin and go to sleep. I was already doing a good job at combating skin dryness before but I daresay my skin is even more moisturized now. I'm going to try out GSO too! :occasion9:

I am curious to hear from those with low porosity who use grape seed oil. Seems like mainly curlies with high/normal porosity are having good results with this (which also seems to be true of mineral oil).

Can anyone with low porosity share their experiences?

Thanks!

Carriejo327 03-14-2013 01:57 PM

I add grape seed oil in with my leave in cond. and it works wonders for my hair.

Aqua_Lily 03-15-2013 01:44 AM

I tried it as a sealer today, and I'm very pleased with the results! :)

pinkwolf 03-15-2013 11:44 AM

GSO is the truth. Its a staple of mine. I use it to seal during the warmer months and I always add it to my DC's. :-)
